Carson City’s Year in Review: a look back on 2020 (pandemic free edition)

It was an eventful year around the Carson City region notwithstanding the limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's some notable stories that were not pandemic related that happened in 2020.

Carson City Sheriff's Office: 3 confess to BB gun rampage causing more than $10K in damages

Between Sunday, Dec. 6 and Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to 26 reports of Carson City homes, vehicles and a government building being shot with a BB gun causing broken windows and vehicle body damage. The dollar amount of the damage caused is more than $10,000.

Arrests made in connection to recent BB gun vandalism spree in Carson City

UPDATED at 3:41PM: Arrests have been made in connection with the recent string of BB gun vandalism incidences in Carson City. Three suspects have admitted to the crimes and bb guns, pistols and rifles have been recovered, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

One thing we can all plan on is, all the back country lakes and roads will not be open until June or July. The one thing we can count on is the Carson River and a few of the lakes in the Inyo and Mono County area.

Opening day will be on April 27th this year, and with our rain and snow totals, there will be plenty of water everywhere.

The Nevada Outdoor Experience Youth/Family Expo will be Saturday, June 18. This free family event is designed to excite and inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts. We have something for everyone.

Everything is FREE. Events include: rock climbing wall, metal detecting, archery, gold panning, BB gun ranges, laser shot, trap and skeet, and many, many more hands-on events led by specialists in their field. Over 20 organizations are volunteering to put on this event. Free raffles for the kids, starting around noon.
