Carson City recent arrests: Man jailed after fighting with brother over card game rules
A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning for suspicion of domestic battery after fighting with his brother in a dispute over rules to a game they were playing, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched at 12:55 a.m. to the 700 block of Hot Springs Road in reference to a domestic battery.
Deputies arrived and met with the victim who was outside the apartment. He stated he and his brother were playing Magic, a trading card game, and got into a fight regarding the rules of the game. The victim brother stated while they were arguing, his 31-year-old brother punched him in the back of the head, which started a physical fight between them, the arrest report states.
The deputy didn’t observe any physical injuries on the victim nor did he complain of any. He stated while he was waiting for deputies to arrive, he grabbed a sword for his protection. At the request of dispatch, the victim stated he left the sword inside the apartment upon exiting, the arrest report states.
Deputies then spoke with the suspect who was inside the apartment. He stated he and his brother got into an argument regarding the game rules. The suspect stated he was trying to leave the kitchen where they were playing Magic and when doing so, stated his brother pushed him. The suspect brother stated after being pushed he punched his brother in the back of the head. He stated once he punched his brother they began to fight. A deputy observed a small amount of blood on the suspect’s lips.
A deputy then spoke with a witness who was also playing the game. The witness stated the brothers began to argue over the game rules and stated he observed the suspect brother punch the victim brother in the back of the head, the arrest report states. Deputies placed the 31-year-old under arrest for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
While at the residence, officers spoke with a 33-year-old woman who was also playing the game. Deputies learned she had an active and confirmed warrant out of East Fork Township Justice Court for failure to appear. She was arrested for the warrant. Bail: $1,089.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 5:20 p.m. in the 500 block of South Roop Street for suspicion of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area of the post office for a report of a man wearing a hat and plaid shorts who dropped a handgun on the sidewalk, picked it up and placed it the front of his waistband of his shorts.
Deputies located the man matching the description and detained him. During a search officers located a clear glass methamphetamine pipe in the man’s right front pocket and a makeup container with drug residue in it. Deputies located the gun as well.
A closer examination of the gun showed it was a .177 caliber bb gun that very closely resembles an actual handgun. He was arrested for paraphernalia possession. Bail: $1,137.
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 3:18 p.m. in the 1900 block of H Street for two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants issued Dec. 8, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail $10,000.
