Clear Creek Bowmen annual Turkey Shoot is this Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Carson City Archery Range, just East of Eagle Valley Golf Course. The event is open to the public.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Fall-themed train rides from the Virginia Truckee Railroad Company and the Nevada State Railroad Museum will be available on Saturday and Sunday. A virtual “Light After Dark” fitness event will be held on Saturday to support the Carson City-based Advocated to End Domestic Violence program. Sunday October 18th the Clear Creek Bowmen will be holding their annual Turkey Shoot. It will be a 35 3D target, unmarked yardage shoot (range finders ok). No, you’re not going to be shooting at live turkeys, but you will be competing to win a frozen one!

Golf was invented or discovered, whichever you like, in Scotland in the mid-1400's, and became hugely popular almost overnight. Golf in Scotland in 1460 was so popular that one could not walk to the post office without getting hit by a golf ball.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region for all to enjoy. New safety guidelines for the state of Nevada are in effect Friday, so make sure to bring a mask and practice social distancing to local events.

Plenty of activities around Carson City are returning for all to enjoy throughout the summer. From hiking and biking trails and campgrounds, to several outdoor recreational activities, there are many ways to get outside and enjoy the warm weather.

From the Carson City Library’s 2020 Learning Challenge, to archery classes at the Clear Creek Bowman Archery Camp, there are several ways for youth to get outside and enjoy the Silver State.

Sunday, June 28 the Clear Creek Bowmen are hosting the Tim Meigs Memorial 3D Archery Shoot in Carson City.
The shoot will be a 35 3D targets Unmarked Yardage/Two Arrow shoot. Yes you can bring and actually use your range finders.

Recreational facilities and services in Carson City are beginning to reopen under new provisions by Governor Sisolak’s Phase 2 directives.

The Multipurpose Athletic Center has reopened and the Carson City Aquatic Facility and Carson City Community Center are gearing towards reopening on Monday, June 8.

Starting May 26th, and continuing every Tuesday evening, 5:30 p.m. to dusk, the Clear Creek Bowmen will resume hosting their Tuesday Night Archery Shoots at the Tim Meigs Carson City Archery Range (Formerly the Centennial Park Archery Range).

In response to Governor Sisolak’s Directive 016, relaxing restrictions on some outdoor recreation activities is allowed starting today, if participants recreate safely and in a manner that prevents the spread of COVID-19.

Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department will be reopening the following facilities with restrictions to ensure the health and safety of staff and participants. If you do not feel well, please stay home.

Per the Governors Declaration of Emergency - Carson City Parks & Recreation has closed the Tim Meigs Carson City Archery Range until April 30,2020

Because of Corona Virus concerns and the recent CDC warning on events, The Clear Creek Bowmen archery club has decided to cancel our Hell or High Water archery shoot scheduled for March 22, 2020.

The same concerns will have an effect on our weekly Tuesday night shoots that normally start in April. So for now, consider those on hold too. Once we get the go ahead, we will resume the shoots and post it here on Carson Now.

Saturday, November 2

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the second annual Evening with Divas in Carson City, a Día de Muertos celebration at the Nevada State Museum, Nevada Artists Association’s 40th anniversary celebration, paranormal ghost investigations in Virginia City, a pie baking contest in Gardnerville and much more!

Heading into Tuesday, expect continued sunny skies and cool temperatures. Events for the day include a morning walk and evening hike with Muscle Powered, Fall job fairs hosted by Nevada JobConnect and the Carson Nugget, the 3rd annual "BOO-nanza" celebration at the Carson City Community Center and library, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs and more.

Going into Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 more sunny skies and warm fall temperatures will continue to shine on the capital city as we prepare for the Nevada Day weekend. Ahead Tuesday include a morning walk and evening hike with Muscle Powered, a "haunted" cemetery tour at Lone Mountain, a business networking meeting at Casino Fandango and the Fat Tuesday business networking group at Carson Nugget, archery at Centennial Park and more. Heading into Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, it will be a busy day ahead around the capital city including a Carson City Chamber of Commerce luncheon with Nevada's chief economist, a GOP Women's Club luncheon with Nevada State Senator James Settelmeyer, Sierra Lutheran will host its 7th and 8th Grade Visitation Day, plus a morning walk, evening hike with Muscle Powered, archery at Centennial Park, art night at the library and more. Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. During Thursday’s Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting, a resolution was passed to rename the archery range at Centennial Park the “Tim Meigs Carson City Archery Range.”

Representatives of Carson City’s Clear Creek Bowmen archery club, along with the Parks and Recreation department, brought the resolution to the Board in an effort to honor Tim Meigs, a long-time Carson City citizen who was entered into the Archery Hall of Fame, and who has based his archery business out of the capital city for over sixty years.
