Fall train rides, 'Light after Dark' fitness event, live music and more highlight Carson City area weekend events

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Fall-themed train rides from the Virginia Truckee Railroad Company and the Nevada State Railroad Museum will be available on Saturday and Sunday. Carson City's MAC reopens, Pool and Community Center scheduled to reopen June 8

Recreational facilities and services in Carson City are beginning to reopen under new provisions by Governor Sisolak’s Phase 2 directives.

The Multipurpose Athletic Center has reopened and the Carson City Aquatic Facility and Carson City Community Center are gearing towards reopening on Monday, June 8.

Starting May 26th, and continuing every Tuesday evening, 5:30 p.m. to dusk, the Clear Creek Bowmen will resume hosting their Tuesday Night Archery Shoots at the Tim Meigs Carson City Archery Range (Formerly the Centennial Park Archery Range).

Carson City lifts closures on select outdoor recreation activities

In response to Governor Sisolak’s Directive 016, relaxing restrictions on some outdoor recreation activities is allowed starting today, if participants recreate safely and in a manner that prevents the spread of COVID-19.

Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department will be reopening the following facilities with restrictions to ensure the health and safety of staff and participants. If you do not feel well, please stay home.

Because of Corona Virus concerns and the recent CDC warning on events, The Clear Creek Bowmen archery club has decided to cancel our Hell or High Water archery shoot scheduled for March 22, 2020.

The same concerns will have an effect on our weekly Tuesday night shoots that normally start in April. So for now, consider those on hold too. Once we get the go ahead, we will resume the shoots and post it here on Carson Now.

Carson City's Centennial archery facility to be named for internationally-renowned bow maker

During Thursday’s Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting, a resolution was passed to rename the archery range at Centennial Park the “Tim Meigs Carson City Archery Range.”

Representatives of Carson City’s Clear Creek Bowmen archery club, along with the Parks and Recreation department, brought the resolution to the Board in an effort to honor Tim Meigs, a long-time Carson City citizen who was entered into the Archery Hall of Fame, and who has based his archery business out of the capital city for over sixty years.
