Virginia Range Wildlife Protection Association is working with the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space to install a fence at Centennial Park. This fence will help keep the wild horses in the hills and off the golf course, softball fields and out of the businesses and neighborhoods as well.

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of misdemeanor driving on a revoked license for DUI, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report said.

A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and hit and run after allegedly crashing into a vehicle, flipping off the driver of the vehicle and then driving home, a sheriff's report states.

During Thursday’s Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting, a resolution was passed to rename the archery range at Centennial Park the “Tim Meigs Carson City Archery Range.”

Representatives of Carson City’s Clear Creek Bowmen archery club, along with the Parks and Recreation department, brought the resolution to the Board in an effort to honor Tim Meigs, a long-time Carson City citizen who was entered into the Archery Hall of Fame, and who has based his archery business out of the capital city for over sixty years.

Also happening Tuesday is a free robotics mini-camp for kids in nearby Silver City, Reciprocity Inc. will host a fundraiser at Rustically Divine, there's the Culinary Traveler’s Club's Polynesian Paradise featured at Bleu Café; the Carson City Classic Cinema Club will feature a Sci-Fi favorite at the BAC, plus fitness outings and more. A 32-year-old Mound House man was arrested early Wednesday morning for felony giving false identification to avoid prosecution, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

UPDATE 5:21PM: A motorcycle rider injured in a crash late Wednesday afternoon on Highway 50 East has been flown to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. Their condition is unknown at this time. The cause of the crash is under investigation. The road was closed briefly to allow for the helicopter to land.

We're looking at plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures and an extraordinary musical lineup today at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City for the 11th annual Concert Under the Stars benefit for The Greenhouse Project. There's also art showings, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC and more.

A Carson City live music favorite, Concert Under the Stars, is set to soar this Wednesday night. With hours ticking, construction was well underway Tuesday at Eagle Valley Golf Course at Centennial Park, a new venue for the show and its future.

Helping with set up was John Procaccini, who produces the concert for The Greenhouse Project and helped start the blockbuster event with Charlie and Karen Abowd more than a decade ago, with its beginnings in the Cafe at Adele's parking lot.

When families come to the Ron Wood Family Resource Center, they are typically in desperate conditions.
“We see 80 percent of our clients in the last couple of weeks of the month,” explained Joyce Buckingham, executive director. “They have reached the end of their SNAP benefits or their social security or other benefits.”

Heading into the Independence Day holiday weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to keep the next three days jam-packed with excitement.

The live auction at the Concert Under the Stars, a benefit for The Greenhouse Project, is anticipated each year and has grown to include an even greater array of experience packages and service items.

Now in its 11th year, the Concert Under the Stars begins 5:30 p.m. July 10 at the Eagle Valley Golf Course, 3999 Centennial Park Dr. in Carson City. The evening includes world-class and legendary music by Poco, Pure Prairie League and Firefall — as well as the live auction which takes place between performances.

Capitol City Poker Run to benefit Muscle Powered will take place this Saturday, July 6 in Carson City. This is a bicycle “poker" ride that will start at Silver Strike CrossFit and will ride throughout Carson City.

All proceeds benefit Muscle Powered. Best Poker hand at the end of the ride will win a bike from the Bike Smith. Raffle prizes and Grand Prize to be announced at Silver Strike CrossFit where a good truck will also be present.

As we go forward and move ahead into Tuesday, July 2, 2019 we're looking at another sunny day, all the better as we prepare to celebrate Independence Day. Are you ready for July 4 fireworks at Mills Park? As a Tuesday warmup, get the heart pumping during Muscle Powered's three fitness outings.
