"Slam Dunk"partnership between Silver State High School and City Parks and Recreation

A plan hatched between city parks and Silver State High School appears to be building momentum. The plan seeks to have the city give to the school what it needs (free land) in exchange for the school giving access to the Parks and Recreation what it needs (big new gymnasium and more soccer fields).

The city Parks and Recreation Commission is asking the Board of Supervisors to give Silver State High School ten acres of city land near the southwest corner of Centennial Park and in return the school will build a big new gym and soccer fields that the public will have full access to after hours and on weekends. No money changes hands and both get what they want.
