A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Fairview and N. Edmonds drives Thursday at 11:23 a.m. for DUI first offense, open container, and failure to maintain a lane.

Deputies made contact with the driver who identified himself, and deputies noted he had red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath while he spoke.

The man said he had fallen asleep while driving south on Fairview Drive and must have crossed into the north bound travel lane and ran through fences of residences.

According to the police report, there was an opened Coors Light beer that was partially full and cold to the touch inside the vehicle in the center console.

The man denied having consumed any type of alcohol and agreed to participate in a series of field sobriety tests. The man failed multiple tests and showed numerous signs of impairment.

— A 21-year-old Dayton woman was arrested in the area of Fairview Drive and Interstate 580 Thursday night on the charge of violating her suspended sentence.

A Special Enforcement Team deputy was on patrol heading southbound on the freeway when he noticed a car speeding 10 miles per hour over the speed limit, and the tires crossing the fog line for 150 yards.

The deputy did a registration check on the vehicle and learned the owner had a warrant out of her arrest for violating her suspended sentence by testing positive for amphetamines.

A second deputy arrived to take her into custody.

K-9 Deputy Ivo was asked to conduct an exterior free air sniff around the vehicle. Ivo altered to the presence of drug odor at the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The SET Deputy searched the vehicle and located a lighter between the driver’s seat and the center console.

It turned out to have a false bottom and a void in the middle of it, which contained a white substance which resembled methamphetamine, according to the deputy.
