Carson City sheriff’s log: Arrests made for vehicle theft, rock throwing and domestic battery

A 38-year-old transient was arrested Thursday, 11:44 p.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street for felony suspicion of vehicle theft and other charges after a man was discovered inside a red Jeep Cherokee reported stolen, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Gabriel Lee Wilson was taken into custody at a casino parking lot after officers located the vehicle with man inside, initiating a high risk stop, according to the arrest report. During the investigation, deputies announced themselves and sounded an air horn and police siren. The suspect did not get out of the vehicle after several announcements were made. Deputies used a bean bag round to shatter the rear window with Wilson exiting the Jeep Cherokee as ordered.

The man told deputies he is homeless and that he entered the car to sleep. He denied stealing the vehicle. He also faces charges of misdemeanor obstruction and a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation. Bail: $28,637.

In other arrests:
— A 19-year-old woman was booked into jail Thursday on suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly throwing rocks at a man, which was captured on video.

Arrested was Samantha Shipman. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of being a minor consuming alcohol.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the apartment complex at 20 College Parkway at 4:24 p.m. after a fight and reports of a man with a gun.

A deputy spoke with the man who said he was taking care of his children when a group of 15 people came to his front door and were knocking. He said the door started to open and he slammed it closed. He said he opened the door with a screw driver in his hands and that the female suspect and others made a move toward the door in which he closed it again, and then went for his shotgun, the arrest report states.

The group, including the suspect, began throwing rocks at the man’s sliding glass door with several running away after officers arrived. Video evidence from an independent witness show Shipman throwing a rock at the man. She was taken into custody. Bail: $20,242.

— A 36-year-old transient, Alfred Ward, was arrested Thursday, 4:16 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation.

According to the arrest report, deputies spoke with two independent witnesses who said that the suspect and a woman were yelling at each other outside the store. The witnesses said the man had both of his hands around the woman’s throat. When he saw that witnesses saw what he was doing, he hugged the woman and said everything was OK, the arrest report states.

The woman told the officers she had been in a dating relationship with the man for about a year and that nothing had happened. The man was arrested based on the witness statements. Bail: $15,000.

— A 46-year-old transient, Cirilo Viramontes-Ruiz, was arrested Thursday, 6:02 p.m. in the 500 block of Hot Springs Road on a felony drug trafficking warrant, possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

According to the arrest report, deputies with the Carson City Special Enforcement Team received a tip of drug trafficking going on at a trailer. Deputies arrived and a man took off running. He was caught near a convenience store and told deputies that he ran because he had a warrant. During a search deputies found a small plastic baggie with methamphetamine and a small plastic baggie with marijuana. He is being held without bail in lieu of a hearing on the felony warrant.

– A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 2:50 a.m. in the area of Stewart and Lee streets for a contempt of court warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $1,628.

— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 1:42 a.m. in the area of William and Anderson streets on two misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrants. Bail: $6,000.

— A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 6:49 p.m. in the area of Division and William streets for suspicion of possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, driving on an expired registration and violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $2,869.

— A 36-year-old Carson City woman was booked Thursday, 10 p.m. into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor violation of condition warrant issued in March 2016. Bail: $1,000.

- A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 9:26 p.m. in the area of 1600 Medical Parkway on two counts misdemeanor probation volition. Bail: $6,000.

— 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 10:57 p.m in the area of Airport and Woodside streets on misdemeanor warrens for violation of a suspended sentence, failure to appear in traffic court, driving on a suspended registration and driving with a revoked license. Bail: $1,402.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:26 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of violation a temporary protection order. Bail: $1,137.
