Carson City couple held for burglary after former roommate's checks, tax documents found
Two were arrested Friday for suspicion of burglary and other charges following an investigation into personal checks and tax documents that were stolen, a Carson City sheriff's report states.
Arrested were Joseph Harvey Fontaine, 57, and Kesa Dawn Pascal, 41. Both were arrested for suspicion of burglary. Fontaine also faces a charge of felony charge of possession of documents to establish false status.
Pascal was also arrested for suspicion of misdemeanor possession of stolen property and a department of alternative sentencing violation.
According to the arrest report, the pair had been living with a couple at apartment for the past few weeks and had been kicked out of the apartment due to drug use. The victims did not know their checks and the tax documents were were missing. They were found in a backpack following a traffic stop belonging to Pascal. Bail for Fontaine: $27,500. Bail for Pascal: $25,000.
In other arrests:
— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday in the area of Long and Roop streets for suspicion of gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon.
According to the arrest report, a traffic stop was made by the Carson City sheriff on a vehicle that had failed to maintain a lane of travel.
The sheriff made contact with the driver and deputies made contact with the passengers. According to the arrest report, a passenger in the back seat had attempted to hide an alcohol beverage, a "Truly" hard seltzer, from officers. He was later found to be in possession of a dirk dagger, sharpened as an improvised weapon. He was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon, a gross misdemeanor. Bail: $2,500.
— A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 6:31 p.m. for misdemeanor being an ex-felon failing to register. Bail: $242.
— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 11 p.m. in the area of William Street at Mills Park for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. According to the arrest report, a traffic stop was made for failure to maintain a lane of travel.
Officers spoke with the man, asked him questions, and asked if he took any prescription medications. The man said he did not anymore. While speaking with the officer, a sergeant, who made the traffic stop, the man would not sit still and spoke rapidly.
The driver admitted to drinking about an hour prior to the traffic stop and then admitted to using methamphetamine four days prior, the report states.
He was asked if he would be willing to submit to a field sobriety test. The man agreed and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .10 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
He initially agreed to a blood test, due to officers suspecting he may have been under the influence of a controlled substance as well. The man then became uncooperative, and told officers to get a warrant for a blood sample. A warrant was applied for and granted by a Carson City judge. Bail: $1,137.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 5:45 p.m. for warrants alleging gross misdemeanor destruction of property, and misdemeanor petit larceny. Bail: $2,000.
