Carson City sheriff's deputies arrest pair on felony drug charges

A man and woman were arrested Monday on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office. Mary Jenae Adams, 24, of Carson City and Michael Louis Kizer, 30, of Schurz, Nev., were taken into custody at 9:51 a.m. in the area of Northridge and Roop streets.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy on patrol in the area of Winnie Lane observed Adams driving a black 1993 Buick sedan northbound. The arresting officer knew Adams did not have a valid license, saw the vehicle did not have a front license plate and observed the window was obstructed. A traffic stop was made. Adams could not provide the officer with a current proof of registration or insurance.

The dog alerted to the presence of drug odor from the vehicle and a search was conducted where a methamphetamine pipe and a trace amount of the drug found, according to the arrest report.

Officers read the the pair their Miranda rights which they both stated they understood and waived. Neither admitted to possession of the backpack.
