Carson City man faces kidnapping charge, allegedly forces victim to drive to California
A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of kidnapping after allegedly forcing his roommate at knifepoint to drive him to southern California, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested was Danny Sanchez. He faces a felony charge of first degree kidnapping and a misdemeanor count of making threats. According to the arrest report, the incident happened Wednesday, March 15.
According to the arrest report, the victim was told by the suspect, who allegedly held a two-inch knife at him, to drive to Bishop, Calif., and possibly Los Angeles. The vehicle they were driving ran out of gas near Bishop, Calif.
The two were able to get a ride to a gas station where the victim contacted security at a nearby casino and explained to them what had happened, the arrest report states.
The suspect, Sanchez, was released from custody in Inyo County without charges where he returned to Carson City, according to the arrest report. He was found at a Pioche Street residence Saturday and arrested. Bail: $100,774.
In other bookings: A 53-year-old Carson City man, Thomas Joseph Guerena, was arrested Sunday, 5:02 a.m. in the area of Gordon and North Edmonds for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
The man was found to be in possession of a testable about of methamphetamine that was in a meth pipe a deputy found after the man consented to a search. Bail: $3,500.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday 1:04 a.m. in the area of Monte Rosa and Gordonia Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, underage possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Bail: $2,511.
– A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 5:15 p.m. in the 2200 block of East William Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant, driving on a suspended license and registration. Bail: $1,115.
— A Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:40 p.m. in the area of Palo Verde and Mesquite for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, huffing chemical inhalants, hit and run and driving without a valid license.
According to the arrest report, the suspect allegedly left the scene of an accident at Walsh and Washington streets.
The victim of the crash called dispatch to report that they found the suspect off of Palo Verde nears Mills Park and that the suspect appeared to be huffing chemical Dust Off, the arrest report states.
Officers arrived on scene. The suspect began yelling and thrashing around at the responding deputies. He was handcuffed. He told officers he huffed two cans of Dust Off and voluntarily submitted to take a blood test. Bail: $3,123.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 10:49 a.m. in the 3700 block of Woodside drive for a misdemeanor warrant. Bail: $1,000.
— A 22-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested Sunday, 3:57 a.m. in the area of North Carson and College Parkway for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and basic speeding.
According to the arrest report, the woman was stopped speeding, going 47 mph in a 35 mph zone. She showed signs of intoxication and agreed to field sobriety tests. She provided a preliminary breath test of .235 and was arrested. She agreed to two blood samples at jail. Bail: $1,229.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 2:11 a.m. in at the area of Carson and Silver Oak for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain a lane of traffic. According to the arrest report, the driver was stopped for failing to maintain a lane of traffic while traveling on Carson at Hot Springs.
The arresting officer observed signs of intoxicated. The man refused standardized field sobriety tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .137 and was arrested. At jail he consented to evidentiary blood draws. Bail: $1,224.
— A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:46 a.m. in the area of Carson and William streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, driving without a valid license, and driving without headlamps. According to the arrest report, the man was stopped for not having his headlamp on.
The officer made contact with the driver and could smell alcohol on his breath, and observed he had had watery eyes and slow speech. The driver consented to a preliminary breath test with a .124 result. At jail he provided tests of .115 and .117. Bail: $1,401.
