Carson City deputies make weekend arrests for domestic battery, DUI and warrants

A man was arrested Saturday for gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon and three misdemeanors: A failure to comply warrant, driving without a valid license and speeding, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

The arrest happened at 11:50 a.m. in the area of North Lompa Lane and Highway 50 East. According to the arrest report, a deputy in the area noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, kicking up dirt on the roadway. The vehicle was going 60 mph in a 40 mph zone when the deputy caught up to the driver.

During the stop the driver informed the deputy he didn't have a valid license on him and that he was test driving a vehicle from a car lot. He provided the officer with a date of birth and social security number. The deputy ran the information through dispatch and was alerted to an active warrant out of Sparks, the arrest report states.

He was arrested. Later, when the deputy went to inspect his patrol vehicle, he discovered a pair of brass knuckles between the seat and the door. The officer had checked the back seat before their shift and it was empty. The man was the only arrest or transport in the vehicle that day. Bail: $3,379.
