Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Reckless driver busted for DUI, dangerous weapon possession

A 37 year-old Carson City man was arrested at 4:20 a.m. Saturday morning in the area of Koontz Lane and South Carson Street on possession of a dangerous weapon, a gross misdemeanor, as well as misdemeanor reckless driving and first offense driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, the suspect was leaving the scene of a domestic dispute in his black Jeep when a Sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop. The officer was responding to the domestic dispute call at the time.

Upon approach, the suspect vehicle rapidly traveled backwards, nearly striking a light pole, the report said. It stopped once the deputy activated his overhead emergency lights.

The suspect stated, "I'm drunk driving," as soon as the deputy made contact with him, the report said. A strong odor of alcohol was smelled coming from the suspect, the deputy reported, and he exhibited red, watery eyes and slurred speech.

The suspect consented to field sobriety testing, the results of which showed signs of impairment. He nearly fell over while attempting to hop on one foot, the report said, so the testing was halted at that point and the suspect was handcuffed.

A set of brass knuckles was found in the suspect's vehicle as it was being inventoried for towing, the report said.

The suspect was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,500.

The suspect, per security's report, had become unruly inside the establishment and was asked to leave. He refused, becoming belligerent and ignoring security's multiple warnings.

Security sought to press trespassing charges against the suspect, who was taken into custody of the Carson City Sheriff's Office and transported to the Carson City Jail. Bail: $150.

According to the arrest report, law enforcement observed a suspect vehicle traveling with its right headlight out. A traffic stop was initiated and the officer made contact with the driver. The smell of alcohol and marijuana emanated from the suspect vehicle, which was also occupied by two minor children seated as passengers.

The officer overheard the driver say to one of the children as he was fetching vehicle information from the glove box, "Sorry, baby, Daddy shouldn't have had those beers."

He also admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana throughout the day and evening hours, the report said.

The suspect consented to field sobriety testing, which showed signs of impairment, and a PBT yielded BAC of .136 percent. The suspect was subsequently detained in handcuffs and then transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. The children were placed in the custody of their mother. Bail: $2,500.

— An 18 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday evening at 7:04 p.m. at the Carson City Courthouse on an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant for indecent conduct issued out of the Carson City Justice Court, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the report, the suspect had been in communication with law enforcement throughout the afternoon and had agreed to turn himself in. The warrant was confirmed through records check and the suspect met with a Sheriff's deputy, who then placed the suspect in handcuffs and escorted him to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,500.

— A 22 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 12:30 a.m. in the area of South Carson and Colorado streets on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued out of the Carson City Justice Court, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

Contact was made with the driver, who was identified and run through dispatch for any wants or warrants. Records search results confirmed the outstanding warrant and he was detained in handcuffs, subsequently transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $990.
