Hello fellow anglers. A very Happy Fishmas to you all. The weather is finally changing into winter coldness, but hopefully we will get some precipitation to boost up our snow pack for a long spring and summer runoff and a good fishing experience for 2021.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Several fundraisers, including the annual “Share Your Christmas” Food Drive will be available throughout the Carson City, Minden and Reno areas on Friday. You can visit the North Pole safely as part of a drive-thru Santa's Village experience at V&T Railway in Carson City, beginning Friday into the weekend. A living nativity scene will be featured at First United Methodist Church on Saturday and Sunday. Combined with train rides in Virginia City, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement. Santa and Mrs. Clause, along with the jolly residents of the North Pole, will be putting on a dazzling and safe show this year with a drive-thru Santa's Village at the V&T Railway in Carson City.

Santa Claus will arrive virtually at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and in-person at Battle Born Harley Davidson on Saturday for pictures with families and kids of all ages. Tonight was supposed to be the time to bundle up, put handwarmers in your gloves and gather family and friends to venture downtown to enjoy one of Carson City’s most beloved traditions and the official kick-off to the holiday season.

On Nov. 11th Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 honored local Veterans by placing a bronze plaque at the base of their flag pole located in the front of their Lodge.

V&T Railway will hold a casting call for its 2020 Santa’s Drive-Thru Village on Monday, Oct. 26 and Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Eastgate Depot in Carson City. The railway is looking for energetic performers to portray elves, chefs, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer in addition to individuals to help direct traffic throughout the event.

Hello fellow anglers, Fall is definitely here. Renee and I took a trip through Alpine County last week to enjoy the fall colors. Many trees have turned, while others are just starting to get their true colors.

To get a good look at the viewing, venture up through Highway 88 from Woodfords to Caples Lake. Another good area of fall color viewing is from Woodfords on Highway 89 up to Kinney reservoir on Highway 4 .

CARSON CITY — As a result of COVID-19, V&T Railway Commission has announced that fan favorite, Polar Express, has been cancelled for the 2020 season. In its place, V&T Railway will host Santa’s Drive-Thru Village, a socially distanced holiday event, Dec. 11-13 and Dec. 18-24.

Those who have been traveling along the downtown section of Carson Street since July 22 will have noticed the many young faces on the banners now gracing our light poles.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested Monday for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance, a Carson City sheriff's report states.

I don’t know about you, but the one thing I hate about Spring and Summer are the return of the dastardly mosquito. Just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon an injury accident involving a vehicle and a light pole in front of the Max Casino was reported to dispatch.

The engine on scene has requested a rescue.

Motorists should avoid the area if possible.

Traffic is currently blocked according to those on scene.

Activities lined up around the capital city include morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered. There's a meeting of the Carson Fly Fishing Club at the sheriff's office, a paint and sip night at Living the Good Life and you can join Mile High Jazz Band at Comma Coffee for a 'Fate & Fortune' evening of music and poetry. According to dispatch, a non-injury accident was reported at 2:15 on Roop Street. A vehicle pulling a trailer appears to have lost control and struck a light pole. There are no injuries reported at this time.

Motorists should use alternate routes or use caution in the area.

Carson City Attorney Day Williams has announced that he will run for Assembly District 40, which includes Carson City and a portion of southeast Washoe County. He supports constitutional rights, measures to improve the economy and create jobs, and education that meets today’s needs.

On February 28, NV Energy filed its Natural Disaster Protection Plan with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada per Senate Bill 329, that outlines how the company plans to help protect the public from the impacts of natural disasters on its electric infrastructure that have been experienced in other Western states.

More springlike weather around the capital city is ahead Ash Wednesday with a daytime high near 65. Events include a Real ID town hall meeting at the Carson City DMV, the economic impact of pro soccer in Northern Nevada will be featured at NNDA's Business Edge at Casino Fandango, Carson City Schools offers the first of three pre-kindergarten programs for parents and will also host a separate strategic plan meeting. Meanwhile, Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness hosts a yoga class, plus Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and more.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at approximately 12:25 PM, NHP Troopers were dispatched to a serious injury crash involving a single vehicle at IR-80 and the Virginia Street off-ramp (Exit 13) in Reno.

Preliminary investigation shows a gray 2016 Ford Escape was traveling westbound on IR-80 in the far right travel lane approaching the Virginia Street off-ramp when its driver and sole occupant allowed the vehicle to exit the roadway to the right and enter the dirt area on the north side of the guardrail.
