Day Williams declares candidacy for State Assembly District 40 as a Republican
Carson City Attorney Day Williams has announced that he will run for Assembly District 40, which includes Carson City and a portion of southeast Washoe County. He supports constitutional rights, measures to improve the economy and create jobs, and education that meets today’s needs.
Day grew up in Reno and moved to Carson City after law school. He has been a Nevada lawyer since 1991. He worked one year as law clerk at the Nevada Supreme Court. He is a registered Republican. He has run for Nevada Supreme Court Justice and Carson City Supervisor. During his years as a lawyer, he has represented people from all walks of life.
Day was active in a neighborhood coalition to prevent the power company from running overhead lines into his neighborhood in the area of Seeliger School. They had to install the lines underground. As a result, his neighborhood has remained beautiful.
He was active in a citizens’ push to defeat the downtown library project. The project would have cost the taxpayers too much for the benefits received.
He was the lawyer for the first citizen-initiated grand jury in the State of Nevada. A Deputy District Attorney was indicted, and the grand jury recommended more oversight of the sheriff's office.
Day has been married to his wife, Robin, for 26 years. They have three adult children, two of whom live in Carson City. They have one grandson, with one more on the way. Robin works in his law office and also coaches track and pole vault at Carson High School and Sierra Lutheran High School. Robin and Day attend The Bridge Church in Carson City, where Robin teaches Sunday School. Day serves as a doorkeeper and he volunteers for the children's after-school ministry one afternoon a week.
