Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for suspected DUI after hitting light pole, driving away
A 36-year-old woman was arrested Monday for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance, a Carson City sheriff's report states.
According to the arrest report, deputy responded at 7 p.m. to a report of a hit and run crash, where a vehicle struck a light pole and then drove away. A reporting party advised the vehicle was missing the front bumper and had turned into the driveway of a residence.
The driver was observed passed out in the driver's seat. A deputy arrived as the driver was waking up. The vehicle had extensive front end damage, and the front passenger side fender was dragging on the ground. The vehicle did not have any license plates or registration.
The driver did not provide any proof of insurance for the vehicle. The driver identified herself and asked a deputy "what's going on?" The officer explained that she was reported to be in a crash near Hot Springs Road and East Nye Lane.
A deputy could smell a moderate odor of alcohol coming from her breath. She was asked if she would volunteer to participate in a standardized field sobriety tests. The woman refused and refused a preliminary breath test. She was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. She refused to voluntarily provide breath or blood samples for evidentiary testing. She was taken to jail where a search warrant was applied and granted for a blood draw. Bail: $3,148.

— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday in the area of East William and Russell Way for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $1,000.
