Carson City deputies make arrests for alleged drug possession, other offenses

A 25-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday for suspicion of drug and stolen property offenses, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.

Bradley Wayne Brannon was taken into custody at 12:04 a.m. for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and misdemeanor possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the booking report, a deputy was in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East doing a business check and made contact with a person outside a business, which had become a known area for narcotic use and sales.

The officer asked the man for his license, which he voluntarily and freely provided. The license information returned clear. When the officer asked if he had anything illegal in his car such as drugs, guns or anything else, he replied no. He was asked if he would consent to a search of the vehicle to make sure.

The man stopped out of the vehicle and freely allowed another deputy to search it. The deputy noticed an Apple iPad located in the driver's rear seat, and through a dispatch check, the iPad was reported stolen in Douglas County.

The officer read the man his Miranda warning and he agreed to speak. He stated he took the iPad on trade and had no knowledge it was stolen, the report states.

A deputy then informed the arresting officer that a hypodermic needle with brown liquid inside was located as well was a clear plastic baggie with a white powder inside, and a used clear glass pipe with a burned bulbed end, and a butane torch.

The man was arrested for suspicion of possession of narcotics, paraphernalia and stolen property. Bail: $4,774.

In other arrests:
— A 39-year-old man, Jacob Fearn, was arrested Saturday, 5:24 p.m. for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (meth), gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, being an ex-felon failing to register and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team officer was patrolling the area of Stewart and John streets and recognized the man from previous law enforcement contacts. The man had been observed 3 days prior in areas around town.

A deputy made a subject stop, where he was arrested for failure to register as an ex-felon. The man became confrontational, not following instructions. During the search an officer located a pipe which contained methamphetamine. During an inventory check at jail, deputies were alerted to a spring-loaded metal glass punch designed to break glass. He was also arrested for suspicion of possession of having a burglary tool. Bail: $6,379.

— A 39-year-old Carson City woman, Angelica Marie Gomez, was arrested Saturday in the 1800 block of North Edmonds for suspected drug possession offenses and motor vehicle violations, according to a booking report by a CCSO Special Enforcement Team deputy.

According to the arrest report, the SET deputy was patrolling the area of Brown and Reeves streets and observed a vehicle that made a turn northbound onto Brown Street and did not signal a turn. The vehicle then made other turns, eastbound to Gordon, then to Edmonds, without using a turn signal.

The officer made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Angelica Gomez. The officer asked her for vehicle information. She presented him with an Arizona driver's license but later stated she had been living in Nevada for more than a year. She did not have insurance for her vehicle. The officer asked her if there were any drugs in the vehicle. The woman said no.

A deputy arrived to assist, and a drug detection canine, Ivo, conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle, alerting to the presence of drug odor. A search was done where a Tylenol tube was located that contained a small amount of methamphetamine. Also located was a baggie with three pills inside, only available by prescription, which she did not have. Also located was a meth pipe in an eyeglass case, and several baggies with trace amounts of meth, the report states.

According to the arrest report, the woman said she found the three pills at her workplace, researched them and retained them in her purse. She denied possession of the meth pipe. She was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance, not using a turn signal and not having a Nevada driver's license. Bail: $7,593.
