Carson City mayor declares Friday as 'Mark Lindquist Day Of Hope, Inspiration and Healing'

October 20, 2017 - 5:30pm The Carson City community has gotten behind one of their own who is in the midst of a cancer fight for his life. When "Mission Remission 2 to Beat Cancer" began it created a rally among friends of Mark Lindquist.
The battle rally was loud enough to get the attention of Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell who has proclaimed Friday, Oct. 20 as “Mark Lindquist Day Of Hope, Inspiration and Healing.”
Lindquist is a 48-year-old single father of two teenage boys and was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. He sadly lost his wife two years ago to cancer and this is his second bout with cancer.
Lindquist has recently taken short term disability from his job at Tesla due to chemotherapy which causes him to suffer from severe nausea, pain and fatigue. Although Lindquist is now a resident of Reno, his heart and roots are still in Carson City as he is a Carson High School graduate and resided in the capital city for more than 46 years.
He epitomizes the spirit and closeness of our tight knit Carson City community, which has responded with several fundraisers including a Sept. 30 pub crawl several weeks ago in his honor.
Former Carson City resident, entertainer, DJ, Stage and Clinical Hypnotist Dan Kimm will hold an event Friday at Silver Oak Golf and Event Center.
“Mark’s attitude while undergoing chemo has been uplifting. His posts are always about turning this into a positive experience and counseling others that are undergoing cancer treatment too," said Kimm. "He truly is a 'hero without a Cape' and a perfect example of what a Carsonite should be."
When you read his social media posts, Mark is always inspiring others during his journey, said Kimm.
Carson City residents are making the daily drive to support Mark to make sure his and his sons needs are met, said Kimm. A friend from Vegas recently flew up to assist Lindquist for a week stay.
Fundraisers included a Pub Crawl a few weeks ago but will highlighted Friday evening at Silver Oak Golf and Event Center in Carson City where Kimm and friends will take the stage. Festivities begin with cocktail music by Jason King Roxas from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
At 7 p.m. comedians Bob Johnston and Ethan Pickett will entertain you "until your sides hurt" until 9 p.m. Kimm will perform his HYPNOT!C hypnosis show as a follow.
"Watch your friend get transformed into highly entertaining stars of the show," said Kimm, noting that tickets are available and are expected to sell out. He also sends up a big thank you to Terri McNutt for securing Silver Oak.
