Carson City arrest log: Two jailed for felony marijuana possession with intent to sell

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday in the area of Mark and James streets for suspicion of felony drug possession with intent to sell marijuana and possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Peregrina Hernandez Alejandro was taken into custody at 9:33 p.m. According to the arrest report, a deputy with the Special Enforcement Team was in the area of Ronald Wilson Park on a shots fired call.

The deputy entered the parking lot and observed a parked Toyota 4-wheel drive with smoke coming out of the vehicle. The deputy went to the driver side, knocked and observed marijuana smoke coming out of the vehicle.

The deputy made contact with two people, a female and the 18-year-old man. The deputy observed a large, clear Mason jar with marijuana in the back seat and a baggie of marijuana on the center console.

Both occupants were removed from the vehicle. The deputy asked who the marijuana belonged to. The man claimed ownership. The weight of the marijuana in the jar was 35 grams and the weight of the marijuana in the baggie was 14.7 grams. He faces charges of marijuana possession with intent to sell and possession of more than an ounce by a person under age 21.

The female was cited for smoking marijuana in a public place and for not having a valid license.

In other arests:
— A 35-year-old Carson City man, Christopher Schumacher, was arrested Thursday, 10:54 a.m. in the 2000 block of East William Street for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and gross misdemeanor possession of more than 1 ounce of marijuana.

According to the arrest report, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on William Street near Rand and made contact with the driver, Christopher Schumacher. The deputy was advised of a suspended license for failure to pay child support.

He was issued a citation and advised his vehicle was going to be towed. During the inventory of the vehicle deputies located a black bag on the front passenger seat with 1.6 grams of methamphetamine, 42 small plastic zip lock baggies, 48.8 grams of marijuana, 4 scales, spoons and individual pay sheets for past drug transactions.

The vehicle was towed and the man was taken into custody without incident. When the deputies advised he was being charged with possession of a controlled substance the man replied. “There’s not enough for sales.” Bail: $16,132.

— A 54-year-old Stateline man was arrested Thursday, 9:25 p.m. for misdemeanor suspicion of failure to maintain lane of traffic and DUI first offense. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the parking lot at McDonald’s after the sheriff observed a vehicle swerving all over the road.

Deputies were called to the traffic stop and observed signs the man had been drinking. He told deputies he had hurt his back chopping wood and had taken a Flexirial earlier in the day. He said he drank a six ounce beer while on an airplane two hours prior. He showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests and blew a preliminary breath test of .129, according to the arrest report. Bail: $1,224.

— A 42-year-old transient was arrested Thursday, 9:03 p.m. in the 3200 block of South Carson Street for a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant issued June 13, 2017. Bail: $1,000.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on Thursday, 7:39 p.m. for a violation of bail conditions. He was at the residence of a person he was not allowed to see as part of condition through the department of alternative sentencing. Bail $3,000.
