Carson City emergency crews respond to vehicle crash involving cyclist near Mills Park

UPDATE 11AM: The patient was flown by Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center. Their condition is unknown at this time. Carson City Sheriff's Office and NHP are investigating the crash. Motorists can expect delays.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Wednesday morning to a vehicle crash involving a bicycle rider in the area of William Street near Mills Park.
The call came into dispatch at around 9:17 a.m. First responders on scene report the bicycle rider has suffered serious injuries and a Care Flight air ambulance has been ordered.
Traffic along William Street has been stopped. Motorists should stay clear of the area to allow for emergency vehicles. Traffic is closed at William and Oxby Loop and westbound traffic is being redirected at William and State streets.
Due to the severity of injuries, the bicycle rider was taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital emergency room where Care Flight will transport the rider to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. The Nevada Highway Patrol crash investigations team has also been dispatched to the scene.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
