Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Father jailed on suspicion of abusing disabled daughter

A 62-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail early Monday on suspicion of gross misdemeanor abuse of a vulnerable person and misdemeanor domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, the suspect is the father of a female group home patient with Downs Syndrome. The 24-year-old victim was in the care and custody of her father when an injury happened to her ankle on Sept. 26 between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., the arrest report states. The victim got her foot wedged under the seat in a vehicle.

The suspect dropped his daughter off at the group home and stated his daughter did not walk due to her foot and leg being injured.

On Sept. 27 at approximately 4:19 p.m. Carson City Fire Department was dispatched to the group home for a traumatic injury where the victim was transported to Carson Tahoe Hospital by her father. At the hospital the victim was diagnosed with a fracture to her left ankle. She was given an air cast and released from the hospital.

The father took the victim back to the group home. At approximately 8:45 p.m. group home staff observed the father grab his daughter by her fractured left ankle after the air cast was removed. Group home staff observed the father shove the victim down on the bed and heard him yelling at her saying “Can’t you leave it the f*** alone” and “you have already f***ed it up bad enough,” according to the arrest report.

Based on information provided by staff members of the group home, deputies were able to determine the father to be the primary physical aggressor. Deputies collected written statement from staff members.

Deputies then located the man early Monday morning at his home on Brentwood Drive and arrested him at 12:54 a.m. for listed charges of abuse of a vulnerable person and domestic battery. Bail: $5,637.
