Carson City deputies arrest Calif. woman, Mound House man for possession of drugs, firearms

A 51-year-old Hollister, Calif. woman and a 54-year-old Mound House man were arrested in the 3600 block of Goni Road for felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

According to the report, Alicia Rios-Marquez and Luis Ramirez Aguilar were arrested after deputies on patrol early Friday morning noticed a vehicle driving Eastbound on College Parkway and ran a wants and warrants check on the license plate.

Dispatch advised someone “associated with the vehicle” had an active warrant out of Storey County.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Rios-Marquez, and the passenger, Aguilar. Aguilar, dispatch advised, was the person with an active warrant.

Deputies removed Aguilar from the vehicle and he was placed under arrest for the warrant. During a search of his person, deputies located a metal tooter straw in his back left pant pocket, which had a white powdery substance inside. The deputies tested the substance which gave a positive result for methamphetamine.

Deputies told Rios-Marquez they were taking Aguilar under arrest and asked to search her vehicle, which she consented to. A K-9 Deputy arrived on scene and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle before giving a positive alert.

Inside the vehicle, deputies located a metal spoon in the driver’s seat’s rear pouch, located inside a white plastic bag containing a white powered substance still on the surface of the spoon. This tested positive for an opioid. She also was in possession of a small browning firearm located in her purse, according to deputies.

She was taken into custody for possession of the spoon.

In the passenger side of the vehicle where Aguilar had been seated, deputies located a loaded .45 caliber 1911 style handgun underneath the passenger seat. The handgun had one bullet in the chamber and a fully loaded magazine with hollow tip ammunition, the report states. Rios-Marquez told deputies she had no knowledge of that hand gun.

Deputies performed a criminal history on Aguilar and found he had been previously convicted of a felony in Calif. for drug trafficking.

They were both taken into custody without incident.

Offenses for Alicia Rios-Marquez: Possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637

Offenses for Luis Ramirez Aguilar: Possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, Storey County Warrant, Ex-Felon possession of a firearm. Bail: $24,487; $850 cash only

— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested by the Special Enforcement Team in the 900 block of E. Fifth Street early Thursday morning for felony parole and probation violation.

According to the report, the SPT was asked to provide assistance and cover to a parole officer during a routine probation check on Body Blohm.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with Blohm’s girlfriend, who advised that Blohm was not home. One of the deputies walked around the south side of the apartment complex and located Blohm in the laundry room smoking a cigarette.

According to deputies, Blohm was acting “nervous and somewhat evasive,” and deputies asked him to have a seat in front of his apartment, which he did.

They found no contraband within the house. However, back in the laundry room, deputies located a broken methampethamine pipe and a tooter straw located on the top shelf. Blohm denied either belonged to him, and said a lot of people go into the laundry room.

Blohm was asked to provide a urine sample, which tested positive for methamphetamine. He was taken into custody for felony parole and probation violation without issue.

No bail.

— A 38-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested in the area of S. Carson Street and Fairview drive for DUI first and failure to maintain a lane.

According to the report, the woman was arrested after deputies responded just after midnight on Thursday to reports of a possible drunk driver. The vehicle was reported to be weaving from lane to lane while traveling Northbound on Carson Street from Old Clear Creek to Colorado.

A witness stated that the vehicle had nearly struck other motorists and was driving in a very unsafe manner. The vehicle came to a stop at an intersection, and another witness opened the woman’s door and removed the keys from the ignition prior to deputies’ arrival.

When deputies arrived, the woman was still in the front driver’s seat of the vehicle and appeared to be “lethargic and confused.”

Deputies did not smell any alcohol coming from her person, and asked if she’d had anything to drink or taken any medication. She said she took one Soma pill prescribed by her doctor.

She was taken into custody for driving under the influence without incident.

Bail: $1,269
