Nevada Rural Housing show and shine returning to Carson City Aug. 19
Following a successful first year as a fundraiser of the Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) and the Nevada Rural Community Partners (NRCP), "A Place To Shine" Show and Shine car show is returning to Carson City this summer.
Featuring classic cars and hot rods as the main event, "A Place To Shine" will also showcase 15 amateur boxing bouts by the Carson City Boxing Club, stunts performed by The Wheel House, as well as car limbo and sound competitions, bounce houses for children, raffles, prizes, and food and craft vendors.
Trophies will be awarded to competition placers.
This year's show and shine is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 19 at Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City, from 2 to 7 p.m.
Proceeds from "A Place To Shine" help low-income youth afford to participate in extra curricular activities by covering the costs of gear, equipment and sign-up fees.
"Our mission is to help provide life enhancing experiences through sports, activities and events, to those who would not otherwise have access to the opportunity," according to the NRCP mission statement.
The show and shine is free to attend for spectators. All vehicle years, makes and models are welcome.
