Argument between neighbors over dogs lands Carson City woman in jail for battery

A 53-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of property and misdemeanor domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to a Spartan Avenue residence at around 9 p.m. in reference to a domestic battery. The deputy met with a female, later identified as the suspect, who informed the officer her daughter and grandson live with her.

She said she and her daughter got into an argument over tire rims that she wanted moved from the patio. When her daughter attempted to leave the residence with her friends, her mother threw a booster car seat at the vehicle, causing a dent. The suspect admitted to throwing the car seat at her daughter’s car, according to the arrest report but she denied she made any physical contact with her daughter.

The victim was interviewed for her side of the story and said she was pushed by her mother before leaving in the vehicle and that her mother threw the booster seat at her car. The arresting deputy took a photo of the damage done to the vehicle and the mother was arrested. The incident was witnessed by two others. Bail: $5,637.

In other arrests:
— A 52-year-old Carson City woman was taken into custody Tuesday, 12:44 a.m. in the 300 block of South Carson Meadows for suspicion of battery and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was called to the area in reference to a battery that happened between neighbors.

The deputy made contact with the victim who displayed a one-inch actively bleeding laceration to his left eye. He stated the laceration was caused by being pushed into a handrail by the female who lived in one of the nearby units. He stated that he and his mother have been having issues with the neighbor about their dogs not getting along, according to the arrest report.

The victim and his mother showed the deputy a video they took of the woman arguing with them after the alleged physical battery. The video did show the suspect yelling at them during an argument but did not show physical violence, the report states.

Both the son and mother stated the video was taken after the battery. The victim stated he did not make physical contact with the suspect and walked away after she pushed his head into the railing, the arrest report states. He wished to press charges for battery and completed a citizen’s arrest form. The deputy took photos of the man’s injuries.

The officer knocked on the door of the suspect and made contact with her. The woman stated she and her neighbors did have issues in the past over the dogs. She further stated she did not make any physical contact with the victim and denied the battery took place, the report states.

Carson City dispatch informed the deputy the woman had a confirmed warrant out of East Fork Justice Court for contempt of court. The warrant listed a $500 cash only bail and was signed by the justice of the peace on May 25, 2018. She was taken into custody for the warrant and suspicion of battery. Bail: $1,637.

— A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 5 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, petit larceny and violation of bail conditions, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to Walmart for a shoplifter in custody. Loss prevention advised the woman removed items from a shelf and exited the store without paying for the merchandise.

The deputy was advised the woman placed the items in a black backpack and placed the backpack into a vehicle. Loss prevention identified themselves and recovered the merchandise from the backpack.

While recovering the items a small glass pipe, used for smoking methamphetamine, was located and had white residue that later tested positive for meth. A wants and warrant search of the woman showed she is currently under supervision with the Department of Alternative Sentencing. DAS advised they wanted her arrested for violation of bail conditions. Bail: $4,489.

— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 11:19 a.m. at a William Street coffee shop parking lot for misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant, driving on a revoked license and failure to obey a stop sign, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop after observing a Honda Civic traveling north on Saliman that failed to stop at the sign at the intersection of East Robinson Street.

The driver did not have a license. The deputy ran her name after she provided other information, and the deputy was advised her license had been revoked due to a a previous DUI. Dispatch also advised the woman had an outstanding warrant for violation of a suspended sentence. She was arrested. Bail: $1,749.

On May 15th, 2024, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on the 600 block of Angela Street in Fernley, Nev., reference a caller who reported that he had murdered his mother. The caller additionally provided that he barricaded himself inside the house, was armed with a rifle, and had planted pipe bombs at the residence.

On a sunny Saturday morning, 100 volunteer participants fanned out across Lake Tahoe’s South Shore to take water quality samples from 34 streams, creeks, ponds, and lakes to monitor the health of the Truckee River watershed and Lake Tahoe as part of the 24th annual Snapshot Day. They were joined by teams doing the same tests simultaneously in other regions of the watershed.

Just before noon on Tuesday a crash with injuries was reported on the I-580 on ramp from N. Carson Street.

According to dispatch there are two vehicles involved, one of which was towing a trailer.

Injuries have been reported and the number two lane is blocked.

Traffic cameras show vehicles are moving slowly but are able to get through to Washoe Valley.

Motorists must use caution in the area.
