Carson City arrests: Man admits he was high on meth when he stole SUV, drove it to Nevada

A 31-year-old man was arrested Sunday for felony possession of a stolen vehicle and drug charges after he was found at a gas station filling up his tank, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Delance Terrel Jefferson was taken into custody in the 3700 block of North Carson Street at 12:32 a.m. According to the arrest report, deputies were attempting to locate an SUV with California plates after a reporting party said the vehicle was speeding, unable to maintain lanes and driving on the shoulder of the highway.

A vehicle matching the description was located at a convenience store gas pump on North Carson Street. Officers ran the plates, which came back stolen. Carson City sheriff's deputies made contact with the man and detained him.

During a search they located a a large amount of cash, ($3,316) and a glass container with a white powdery substance, which the man told deputies was methamphetamine. During a search of the stolen vehicle, a canine was deployed, where additional drug paraphernalia was found.

Deputies made contact with the owner of the vehicle who stated it had been stolen June 6 from their workplace in Sonoma County, Calif. The keys were stolen from the break room of a store where they were working. The victim also stated her purse with credit and debit cards were also stolen.

The suspect was interviewed, where he admitted he was in the store, walked toward the bathroom, saw a lunch bag in the employee locker room, went through the bag and found the key to the vehicle. He stated he was high on meth at the time and was tired of walking. He admitted to stealing the vehicle, driving it to Sacramento and then Reno to gamble, the arrest report states.

He told officers he doesn't have a job but got the cash he had on him while gambling. He was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $13,637.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man, Sterling Wilson-Howarth White, was arrested Saturday, 9:10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Airport Road for a felony warrant alleging using of a credit card without consent and a misdemeanor warrant, theft. The warrants were issued Jan. 24, 2019 out of East Fork Township Court. Bail: $6,000.

— A 31-year-old Carson City man, Jose Majano-Alvarez, was arrested Saturday, 4:53 p.m. at a Condor Circle residence for felony parole and probation violation, and a failure to appear warrant, also a felony out of Carson City District Court. He's being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 58-year old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 5:50 p.m. for a failure to appear warrant issued April 20, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000. She was arrested in the 2100 block of East Long Street.

— A 38-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested Saturday, 10:28 p.m. in the 4100 bock of South Carson Street for two misdemeanor failure to comply warrants issued June 10, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $6,000.

— A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 2:03 a.m. in the area of East William and North Plaza for suspicion of DUI and speeding.

According to the arrest report, a sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling 35 mph in a 25 mph zone. While speaking with the driver, the officer observed the woman's speech was slurred and her eyes bloodshot and watery.

She was asked if she had been drinking and she stated she had been drinking beer and some vodka. She agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She provided a preliminary breath test of .175 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail she provided evidentiary breath test results of .117 and .116. Bail: $1,184.

— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 9:02 p.m. in the area of North Carson and West Second Street for gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon. According to the arrest report, the man was in possession of a butterfly knife and brass knuckles. Bail: $2,500.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 4:18 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street for two counts misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies recovered a meth pipe, empty baggies with residue and a bong. Bail: $2,274.

— A 44-year-old Carson City, Alyisa Bower, was arrested Saturday, 4:47 p.m. for felony drug charges and misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the woman allegedly hit her boyfriend multiple times during an argument. Officers observed the man was bleeding from the left side of his face.

The victim said he was hit at least 7 times with closed fists by the woman and the ring on her hand is what had caused the cuts to his face. The woman was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. At jail deputies located methamphetamine, a meth pipe and a pill bottle with pills in which the woman didn't have a prescription for, inside her purse, the report states. Bail amount listed: $9,274.

— A Carson City man, Michael John Ward, was arrested Saturday, 7:11 p.m. in the area of Roop and Evalyn for alleged possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and misdemeanor riding a bicycle on the wrong side of the road. Bail: $2,595.

— A 53-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:15 a.m. in the area of Curry and Robinson streets for driving with a suspended registration, driving on a suspended license, driving without vehicle insurance and a violation of suspended sentence warrant issued June 13, 2018 out of Carson City justice court. Bail: $2,486.
