Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Dayton women busted for commercial burglary

A pair of Dayton women were arrested Friday evening at 7:39 p.m. at a business in the 7000 block of U.S. Highway East for felony burglary, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, 18 year-old Melissa Barker and 19 year-old Emerie Hodges were apprehended along with a third adult female and two male juveniles after law enforcement was dispatched to a burglary in progress.

A traffic stop was made on the suspect vehicle and a witness positively identified the suspects in the vehicle, the report said.

Items taken from the business — wires, tire chains, fuses and relays — were recovered from the suspect vehicle and identified by one of the suspects as stolen property, the report said.

One of the suspects suffered from medical issues and was not arrested, the report said, but she did waive her Miranda Rights and provided a statement to deputies.

The two juvenile males arrested her placed in the custody of juvenile detention, while Barker and Hodges were booked into the Carson City Jail. Bail: $25,000 each.

In other arrests:

— A 59 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday evening at 6:21 p.m. in the 2000 block of West College Parkway for misdemeanor first offense domestic battery, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area on a report of an intoxicated subject who was throwing items out of a second story apartment.

They met with the suspect at the complex and observed personal and household items scattered all over the concrete sidewalk below the apartment, the report said. The suspect said he and his girlfriend just had a little argument.

Deputies then made contact with the suspect's girlfiend at the upstairs residence. She reported her boyfriend of six months, the suspect, had hit and choked her while trashing the residence, the report said.

The victim reported being slapped on the right side of her face multiple times by the suspect, who also placed his right hand around her throat, the report said.

Deputies observed the victim to have a swollen right cheek and redness around her neck.

The suspect reported the victim had slapped him in the face, the report said, but no marks were observed on him.

Deputies placed the suspect in handcuffs at that point. He also submitted to a preliminary breath test, which showed breath alcohol content of .280 percent.

He was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $3,000.

— A 37 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday at 12:05 p.m. in the 3700 bock of South Carson Street on a pair of fugitive felon warrants out of California, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

Paul Scriven was taken into custody at a business along South Carson Street after dispatch advised deputies of an attempt to locate on him. A reporting party observed Scriven at the business and notified authorities, the report said.

Arriving deputies identified Scriven from descriptions from the reporting party. They made contact with him, and Scriven confirmed his identity with law enforcement.

Dispatch verified two extraditable outstanding felony arrest warrants on Scriven, who was handcuffed at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: None.

— A 19 year-old male transient was arrested Friday afternoon at 4:20 p.m. in the area of Nye Lane and Otha Road for misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said, after law enforcement had stopped him.

According to the report, the suspect was observed by deputies to be walking west on Nye Lane. They stopped and asked to speak with him. He gave them a strange name, and deputies asked if this was his real name.

At that point, the suspect nervous, visibly shaking and looking around as though he was might take off running, the report said. He was placed in handcuffs and later gave deputies his real name. He also admitted that he had an active arrest warrant for a probation violation.

A records check by dispatch confirmed the bench warrant issued out of the Carson City Justice Court.

He was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $3,000.

— A 35 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday afternoon at 5:02 p.m. in the 3300 block of U.S. Highway 50 East on misdemeanor revoked driver's license for driving under the influence (DUI), a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the report, a Sheriff's deputy was running license plates in the area when a records check on the suspect's vehicle plate confirmed a revoked driver's license.

A traffic stop was subsequently made and the driver identified as the suspect with the revoked license.

He was placed in handcuffs at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

UPDATE THURSDAY: The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people who died Wednesday morning following the two vehicle crash on I-580 in Carson City. They are Alejandra Hernandez Valtierra, 36, and Viola Santoyo Huizar, 48, both of Carson City.

UPDATE 12:42PM: Southbound I-580 in Carson City was opened as of around 11 a.m., said a Nevada State Police spokeswoman, who provided more details of the fatal crash that happened early Wednesday morning.

Both the driver of a car and a truck involved in the crash died. Their names have not been released pending notification of family members. The car, which was going the wrong way — northbound in the southbound lane — struck the truck and caught on fire, according to a NSP preliminary investigation thus far. The vehicle makes are unknown at this time.
