Carson City sex offender arrested for failing to register
Carson City deputies arrested a 56-year-old Carson City resident for failing to update his registration as a sex offender.
Ismael Colunga was arrested after deputies stopped a vehicle driving without a license plate Thursday night, as well as driving with a broken tail light.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and made contact with Colunga, who had a “mouthful of pizza” in his mouth when deputies attempted to speak with him. Deputies at first thought this was an attempt to mask the smell of an alcoholic odor.
Upon running Colunga’s information, dispatch advised that Colunga had a suspended license, as well as being a registered sex offender.
However, dispatch advised Colunga had not registered and had been out of compliance since March 2022.
Colunga was booked into the Carson City jail without incident.
Bail: $5,000
