Man who wouldn't have been arrested anyway, gave Carson City deputy false name to avoid arrest; was arrested
A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday afternoon in the area of Nevada and Park streets for providing a false statement to Special Enforcement Team deputies. He gave a false name to prevent from being arrested by deputies on a warrant they legally were unable to arrest him on.
SET deputies were on patrol in the area of a local inn, which has been an active area for increased drug activity within the last two months, according to the report. Deputies observed a vehicle leaving the inn and heading north on Curry. A registration check came back with expired tags.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver and three passengers, one of whom was the 24-year-old. There was a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, minors present, and the 24-year-old was not wearing his seatbelt, the report states.
The 24-year-old gave a name, stated twice he had no identification on his person, and told deputies he was born in December of 1996. He said he had an ID from Calif., but did not know his social security number or license number, which deputies found odd for someone claiming to be 22-years-old, the report states.
He hesitated when asked basic questions about his identity and the driver of the vehicle had to tell deputies what the man’s middle name was. Deputies ran several ID checks and returned with nothing.
Deputies asked the 24-year-old to step out of the vehicle and detained him in handcuffs. When asked to confirm his information, he gave a different first name and date of birth than he gave them originally.
When he gave deputies his true name, deputies learned he had a warrant issued for their arrest from Douglas County, but only supported extradition in Douglas.
He was taken into custody for providing false information to a deputy without incident. Bail: $487

— A 21-year-old Dayton woman was arrested in the area of William and Stewart Streets early Saturday morning for DUI first, improper U-Turn, speeding, and failure to maintain a lane.
Deputies were patrolling William Street when they noticed a vehicle parked halfway in a local bar’s parking lot and halfway in the second westbound travel lane of William Street. The vehicle then began driving westbound on William Street, and made a U-turn in front of the deputy from the number two westbound lane into the number one eastbound lane.
The vehicle quickly accelerated, speeding 35 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone. The vehicle then failed to maintain its lane by breaking the center lane twice, the arrest report states.
Deputies stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of a pharmacy, and the woman identified herself. She said she was just getting off her shift at the bar, and deputies noticed her eyes were red and watery, and there was a slight odor of alcohol coming from her person.
She told deputies she had consumed one drink after her shift, according to the report.
Deputies conducted a Field Sobriety Test, during which she showed signs of impairment, and a Preliminary Breath Test which provided a .101 percent BAC.
At the jail, she took two more breath tests which resulted in a .06 percent and a .061 percent. Bail: $1,403.
