Free Concert on Nevada Day by the Capital City Band, Carson City at 2pm
Under the direction of Richard Doede, the Capital City Community Band will open its fortieth concert season with a Free “Tribute to the American Red Cross”, Saturday, October 28th following the parade from 2:00-3:00pm at the Amphitheater in the Legislative Mall, Carson City, Nevada for Nevada Day.
The band will perform a variety of music including the World War One 100th Anniversary favorites, “Swing the Mood” created by Glenn Miller when he served as the United States Military’s Musical Director during World War II putting a swing in the soldiers’ step; Songs from the musical South Pacific by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II; marches by John Philip Sousa; and a number of pre-requests as well.
The concert is FREE and open to the public and is a tribute honoring the American Red Cross. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to enjoy this concert. Bring a lawn chair or blanket on which to sit.
