Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties’ June public meeting is Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 9am, via Zoom (connection details below). This month’s speakers are from Capital City C.I.R.C.L.E.S. Initiative. Giving an overview of the initiative are Denise Hecht-Mack (Executive Director), JD Powers (Program Coach), and Linda Flaherty, who has been a board member and mentor to participants. The Carson City School District is pleased to announce new leadership roles for the School Board of Trustees. At their first meeting of the year Tuesday, Jan. 11, Joe Cacioppo, District 7, was named the newest president of the Carson City School District Board of Trustees.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance with locating a missing person. Frank Figearo was last seen in mid-October 2020, leaving his motel room in Carson City, Nevada. Mr. Figearo allegedly told a neighbor he was traveling out of state for business.

CASA of Carson City received an early holiday gift from Casey Neilon, an accounting firm with offices in Reno and Carson City, in the form of a sizeable donation.

CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, provides quality court-appointed advocacy for abused and neglected children in child welfare cases, through a network of community volunteers who work with children to ensure their voices are heard during court proceedings.

This year the Carson Nugget in Carson City will celebrate its 63rd annual Community Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are welcome to join us in the Grand Ballroom. All guests will receive a free 8-inch turkey sandwich, stuffing, cranberry sauce and more.

Mr. Thomas A. Bohemier, 74, of Brooksville, Florida passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on October 11, 2020.

Each October, Nevadans turn their attention to the state capitol, Carson City, home of the “official” Nevada Day Parade. Since 1938, the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City has been an annual coming together to celebrate Nevada’s heritage and the founding of this great state on October 31, 1864.

The missing male, 39 year-old Elmer Pacheco-Ramirez, who resides in Carson City, Nevada was last seen on Monday, October 5th, 2020, at approximately 9:30 am, in the area of Jacks Valley Rd and Arcadia Rd, entering the Jacks Valley Wildlife Management Area.

The Carson City Host Lions Club is sponsoring a fun Chalk Art Contest as part of the Nevada Day festivities on October 31st.

The contest is open to all Carson City residents, households, and businesses. Contestants will create chalk art masterpieces on their own driveways or sidewalks based on the Nevada Day theme of “My Favorite Moment in Nevada.”
