Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties’ June public meeting is Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 9am, via Zoom (connection details below). This month’s speakers are from Capital City C.I.R.C.L.E.S. Initiative. Giving an overview of the initiative are Denise Hecht-Mack (Executive Director), JD Powers (Program Coach), and Linda Flaherty, who has been a board member and mentor to participants. C.I.R.C.L.E.S. stands for “Connecting Individuals to Resources that Change Lives and Enable Success.”

New leadership roles for Carson City School Board, re-elected sworn in

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce new leadership roles for the School Board of Trustees. At their first meeting of the year Tuesday, Jan. 11, Joe Cacioppo, District 7, was named the newest president of the Carson City School District Board of Trustees.

Carson City Sheriff's Office asks for public's help locating 77-year-old missing adult

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance with locating a missing person. Frank Figearo was last seen in mid-October 2020, leaving his motel room in Carson City, Nevada. Mr. Figearo allegedly told a neighbor he was traveling out of state for business.

CASA of Carson City received an early holiday gift from Casey Neilon, an accounting firm with offices in Reno and Carson City, in the form of a sizeable donation.

CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, provides quality court-appointed advocacy for abused and neglected children in child welfare cases, through a network of community volunteers who work with children to ensure their voices are heard during court proceedings.
