BRIC offers new business education series

CARSON CITY, NEVADA – The Business Resource Innovation Center is launching a series of free business education classes beginning March 21, 2012. The series, “Hwy 101-RoadMap to Business Success”, will be held Wednesdays from Noon to 1:30 pm. These classes will complement the existing business library resources available, as well as individual business counseling and mentoring offered by the BRIC. These free classes will focus on key information for both entrepreneurs and existing businesses.
“Starting a Business 101” will probably initiate more questions than answers. If you are thinking about becoming an entrepreneur-creating a business from the ground up-this class is for you. Or if you have an existing business and you are considering adding a new product line or have an opportunity to make a strategic change, then this class is for you too. Classes will be held on March 21st, April 4th and April 18th.
“Marketing 101” will be an introduction to marketing strategies, the 4 P's, competition, target markets and branding. This hard hitting class will target the major parts of creating a marketing plan, the key component to building a business plan. “Marketing 101” will be on March 28th and April 25th.
“Finance 101” will be a primer on understanding financial statements and projecting cash flows. If numbers have baffled you or you just want to know more about the key information you see in your financials, this class will teach you how to look at the numbers that will show you how your business is performing. Since cash is king, we will be looking into what it takes to produce a workable cash flow projection. This class will be held on April 11th.

The Business Resource Innovation Center (BRIC) is affiliated with “Your Knowledge and Discovery Place”, the Carson City Library. The BRIC is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located at 108 E. Proctor Street. The Carson City Library is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and is located at the corner of Roop and Washington Streets.
