Event Canceled: Carson City Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party

UPDATE: This event has been canceled due to upcoming storms through the weekend. The following is from the Sheriff's Office: Due to anticipated cold, wet, windy weather conditions Carson City Sheriff’s Office regrets to inform the community of the cancellation of the Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party which was scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to the National Weather Service a slight chance of showers and potential for wind is predicted. Unfavorable weather conditions may cause significant disruption in the planned outdoor activities. The event cannot be relocated indoors as accommodations are limited. Staff of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank those interested in attending and appreciates the community’s support.

The 16th annual Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party, hosted by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, will be held Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office administration building, 911 East Musser Street.

Public safety, awareness and community are at the center of this popular annual spring event where the theme is “Cops and Kids: Where the Community and Law Enforcement Come Together.”

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Enjoy.

Adorable egg-snatching riot breaks out on Nevada Railroad Museum Lawn

The first of two egg hunts at the Nevada Railroad Museum was a hit with the Easter hunters. Eggs filled with prizes, toys and stuffed animals were up for grabs during the hunt which lasted about one entire minute before the lawn was picked clean.

The Easter Bunny was on site for pictures, and inside the museum there will be children’s activities such as face painting, coloring stations, and more.

Festivities will continue throughout Saturday and then Sunday. The schedule is as follows:

Dia de los Muertos: Creating Cultural Connections in Carson City

The Nevada State Museum and Western Nevada College in Carson City are once again teaming up to present a Day of the Dead community celebration on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the museum.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free. Activities include performances by Mexican and Aztec folkloric dancers, an exhibition of altars, and Day of the Dead crafts including sugar skull decorating and face painting for youngsters.

Carson Tahoe successfully wrapped up its 6th annual Spooktacular event Tuesday night in Carson City. A scary good time was had by over 800 kids and at least 1,000 total in attendance.
