It is beautiful outside, the sun is shining, and all of nature is demonstrating its beauty through its natural and exquisite display.

The wind blows, and the trees dance. Cats and dogs run to and fro playing with one another, at least most of the time. Wild animals, though difficult to see at times, are moving about through the forest in search of food. So what is the story here a reader will ask?

CHS students are taking advantage of the beautiful weather, and some of them are going too far with the natural.

Holy moly, it’s going to be a busy weekend: busy and gorgeous out. A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Back in February, a little black kitten made headlines throughout Carson City. Oakley took it upon herself to have a nature adventure and climbed all the way to the top of an Oak tree, hence, her name. Sadly, she couldn’t quite figure out how to get down.

The doorbell rings. Dogs bark. Cats scramble to hide. Or maybe they run to greet your visitor. Either way, something big is happening. You answer the door to find the Fed Ex guy with a giant cardboard box. It’s like Christmas, Halloween and a birthday all rolled into one — for the cats.

Veterinary staff were on hand Saturday at Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital during its Flip the Lip Open House, a free event featuring dental care education for pet owners.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for clear skies, but there are rumors of snow flurries. Luckily there are indoor and outdoor activities, no matter what blows our way. At the top of the list for today is Winter, Wine, Spirits, and All That Jazz at the Brewery Arts Center. Their annual fundraiser is not to be missed.

Happy teeth make for healthy pets, said Katie Roberts, DVM, who is inviting pet owners to a special open house Saturday at Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital in Carson City to learn the best methods for improving the dental care of their furry companions.

I am a resident of Carson City’s West side for almost three decades and Friday morning my brother in law made me aware of a cat stuck in a 40 foot tall tree. Immediately, I thought this animal will need to be helped and will not be able to come down on its own.

Fingers crossed, we’ve got a few days without the wet stuff. This winter seems like the song that never ends. We received late word that Saturday's monthly Trash Mob has been canceled. SATURDAY: Chinese New Year

Born in Pittsburgh, PA., the second eldest child of Joseph Patrick McGuire Jr. and Sylvia Francis May, Joe spent his early childhood in and around that area, moving often due to his Father’s work.

In 1964, at the age of 13, he and his family moved to Carson City, the Capital of Nevada. It was there, playing in the school band, that Joe had discovered a love of music that would become the muse that he would follow the rest of his life.

As this storm system moves in, it makes it difficult for list-makers, such as myself. I cannot predict which of these events will be affected or cancelled because of the snow. The show must go on for the kids of Youth Theater Carson City. ‘The Lion King, Jr.’ is in its final weekend of performances.

Exactly WHAT "ideology" does not let Amodei and Heller do "what is best for the state"? That maybe we are a constitutional republic where the people have a say through their elected representatives to decide on public matters? What a terrible "ideology." I wonder if anybody cares where it came from and why. (Or course, the use of the use that shopworn marxist phrase, "wrong side of history," is NOT ideological…)
