Carson City weather: Chilly and partly sunny with chance of snow showers through weekend
Chilly days and nights will continue through the weekend, with a slight chance of snow showers in Carson City and valley areas by late Sunday with some accumulation in the Sierra, according to the National Weather Service.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, the weekend forecast calls for around a 30 percent chance of snow showers Saturday and Sunday, with less than a half inch possible Saturday. Daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 30s in the valleys, and night time lows in the lower 20s.
Another period of light to moderate snow showers is expected Sunday afternoon into Monday morning bringing from 1 to 2 inches of snow down to the valley floors. This storm is weaker than previous systems and will be measured in inches rather than feet, although it will be enough snow to create travel headaches, the weather service states.
Therefore, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from Sunday, 7 p.m. to Monday, 7 a.m. for the Lake Tahoe Basin. Four to eight inches of snow is expected in the higher elevations, and 2 to 4 inches at lake level.
