Carson City deputies arrest woman for alleged battery with a deadly weapon after fight with sister

A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Tuesday for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon and suspected drug offenses, a sheriff's deputy report states.

Shana Rose James was taken into custody at 1:34 a.m. in the 300 block of South Carson Meadows. She was also booked for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a Carson Meadows apartment after a reporting party told dispatch another female was attacking her. Dispatch advised another reporting party called stating they could hear at least two people fighting, glass breaking and yelling. The second reporting party also advised they could hear a female yelling "get off of me."

Deputies arrived as two females walked out. One of them, the victim, was covered in blood and appeared to have multiple cuts. The other female, identified as Shana James, was asked to speak with one of the arriving deputies.

The suspect stated the victim was her sister who owns the apartment and lets her stay there because she does not have a place to stay. She stated her sister and a boyfriend left earlier to go to the store to get more beer.

She said her sister returned a short time later without her boyfriend and that she was angry. She stated she and her sister got into an argument about the boyfriend and that the victim hit her with a bowl in the head. The suspect did not have any visible bumps on her head, the CCSO deputy report states.

The suspect had blood on her hands and clothes. The officer took photos of the suspect's hands and clothes for evidence.

Deputies spoke with the victim who advised her sister got into an argument with her over a $20 bill. The victim then went to her bedroom to get away from her sister who followed her and continued to argue. The victim yelled at her sister to leave the home. The victim told officers she assumed her sister left the house. Instead, the suspect struck her with a bowl, in which the victim said she partially blocked the bowl from hitting her head.

The victim said she fell to the floor and said her sister continued to strike her with pieces of the bowl. The victim had a cut on her right hand and several cuts on the back of her neck and right ear. Deputies took photos of the broken bowl and injuries for evidence.

Due to injuries, Carson City Fire Department responded and the victim was taken to the hospital.

Deputies located a methamphetamine pipe in the back bedroom next to the suspect's backpack. During an incident search of the suspect, who was arrested, deputies found a small baggie with suspected methamphetamine. She was booked for suspected battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $33,500.

— A 46-year-old man, Christoper Allen Gorham, was arrested Dec. 21 at 1:12 p.m. for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and four misdemeanors: possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a license, driving without insurance and being an ex-felon failing to register. Bail amount listed: $4,808.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday for a misdemeanor failure to appear bench warrant issued Dec. 15, 2020 out of Carson City Justice Court.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop after running a license plate number that returned with the owner having a failure to appear bench warrant for domestic battery. Bail: $5,000.
