Carson City sheriff's deputies make drug and warrant arrests

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Dec. 11 for suspicion of felony drug charges and being a person prohibited to be in possession of a firearm, a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report states.

Tyler Christian Keogh was arrested at 1:13 a.m. in the 3800 block of Highway 50 East. According to the arrest report, an officer conducting patrols was in the area of North Edmonds and Gordon Street and noticed a vehicle that did not make complete stops at two intersections with stop signs. The officer initiated a traffic stop.

The man was reluctant to provide a driver's license and became verbally uncooperative, the report states. The officer instructed the man to place his hands behind his back so he could be patted for weapons. The man did not comply with the demand and instead put his hands in his pockets. The man was then placed into handcuffs.

Once the officer had moved the man away from the vehicle, he observed a black Sig Saur pistol box on the floorboard where the man's feet were, the arrest report states. When a second officer arrived the suspect advised that there was a gun in the glovebox. Officers removed the pistol. Officers requested a wants and warrant check from dispatch on the subject.

A K9 alerted positive to the odor of narcotics. Dispatch advised the man did not have a valid license. The man told officers there wasn't any narcotics in the vehicle. None were located in the vehicle. The officer asked the man if he could search the contents of his pockets for anything illegal. The man voluntarily and freely complied, the report states.

Officers located a small clear straw that had some white powder residue inside. Also located was a folded piece of aluminum foil with suspected heroin. He also informed deputies that he had methamphetamine in his underwear. He was allowed to retrieve it and gave the baggie to the officer, the arrest report states.

He was booked for suspicion of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a felony, two counts possession of a controlled substance, driving without a valid license and failure to obey a traffic control device. Bail: $20,000.

— A 39-year-old Carson City man, Walter Stout, was arrested Dec. 11 for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the arrest report, Tri-Net investigators asked CCSO to assist with a probable cause on drug related violations. At the time of the arrest, the man stated "it's in my shirt pocket, what you're looking for is in there." Inside his shirt pocket was a small plastic bag with suspected methamphetamine. Bail: $3,637.

— A 25-year-old Carson City woman, Shannon Elise Waski, was arrested early Sunday, Dec. 13 for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of prescription drugs without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made contact with two people in a vehicle sleeping in Carson River Park. The officer asked for their identification. Deputies advised the woman had a suspended Nevada driver's license. The officer asked the woman and passenger if they would give a verbal consent to search the vehicle due to a recent arrest for possession of a controlled substance, the arrest report states.

The officer was given consent to search. The officer located, in the woman's purse, two plastic pipes with suspected methamphetamine inside. Also located was a pill bottle with 4.5 Xanax pills, without a prescription, also located in the purse. Bail: $2,500.
