Reno man held on $250,000 bail for sexual assault and three counts of privacy invasion

A 35-year-old Reno man was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies on four felony warrants including sexual assault and invasion of privacy and is being held on a $250,000 bail.

According to the report, Jonathan Keith Graves was arrested after deputies received information that Graves had an outstanding felony warrant issued on Sept. 13, 2019 for sexual assault and intrusion of privacy with an electronic device. They learned that Graves would be driving from Douglas County to Washoe County between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m.

At 5:40 p.m., deputies located the vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 395 entering the I-580 ramp.

Deputies conducted a high risk stop due to the nature of the crimes Jonathan was charged with, according to the report.

He was taken into custody without incident.

The warrant charges Graves with three counts of felony privacy invasion and one count of sexual assault.

Bail: $250,000

— An 18-year-old Carson City man was booked on one count of felony child abuse, neglect causing physical harm after allegedly throwing an 8-year-old child to the ground.

Stanley Sherman Smith III was arrested after deputies were responding to a residence on report of a juvenile problem. While enroute, dispatch advised the 18-year-old had thrown an 8-year-old child to the ground.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with Smith’s mother, who said her son had come home earlier in the evening and was clearly intoxicated. He left the residence still very upset, and later in the evening, she was contacted by a neighbor who told her Smith was involved in an altercation outside.

She said Smith was “fighting with all of his friends” so she was unsure of where he may go, but believed he left on foot.

According to a juvenile witness who saw the incident, several juveniles were outside when Smith approached them and appeared to be intoxicated. The 8-year-old child was standing next to a tree, and Smith allegedly approached the child and accused them of burning trees down.

The child then told Smith it was okay, the juveniles reported, and Smith told them if they said okay again he would punch them in the face. The child then said okay, and Smith allegedly punched them in the face, and the force of it caused the child to hit their head on the tree causing injury to both sides of their face.

Deputies inspected the child, whose face was extremely red, with swelling, bruising and a minor laceration, consistent with being punched and impacting a tree.

Deputies were unable to find Smith in the area. However, the next day, dispatch received a call in reference to Smith wanting to turn himself in. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with Smith, who said he could not remember hitting the child or why he did it, but that he felt responsible and wanted to turn himself in.

Bail: $40,000

— A 48-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle, and hit and run.

He said that while she was exiting the parking lot, she crashed into another vehicle and left.

Shortly after, the woman returned with the vehicle and attempted to strike the victim with their own vehicle, accelerating through the parking lot. The victim reported they had to jump out of the way to keep from being hit. The woman then left the parking lot and turned onto Bath Street before stopping at a stop sign.

The victim stated at this point they ran to the vehicle, entered through the rear van doors and threw the female to the ground. They then got into the driver’s seat of the vehicle and pulled it back into the parking lot of the motel before calling deputies.

Deputies contacted the management of the motel who had most of the incident on video surveillance.
