Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for meth, fraudulent use of EBT card
A 32-year-old woman was arrested Sunday for felony suspicion of fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of a controlled substance and other charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Ashley Ebert, listed as a transient, was taken into custody at Walmart, 5:13 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street. She also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and petit larceny.
According to the arrest report, the woman went to the self checkout line, attempted to scan items and was declined for improper pin number. The woman then took the items and walked all points of sale without paying. She was stopped by loss prevention.
A Carson City sheriff’s deputy read the woman her Miranda rights and she agreed to speak. She said she attempted to pay for the items with an EBT card that was not hers, and that she got the card from an acquaintance, “Sarah” to use, though she told the deputy she knew the card did not belong to “Sarah” the acquaintance, the arrest report states.
During a search of the woman’s purse officers located a pill case with methamphetamine inside. She was arrested and taken to jail where she told deputies she had a meth pipe on her person and retrieved it for jail deputies. Bail: $8,989.
