Banjo music, gold and silver mining camp lore visited at free Carson City concert program
Step back in time for a night of music that graced mining camps for decades during the gold and silver rushes of the 1850s through the 1870s. The Gold Rush Banjo will be presented free on Friday, Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Seating is first come first serve. The program is an evening of stories and songs on the historical mid-19th century banjo with musician and historian Chris Bayer.
Revisit the highly entertaining but now largely lost body of far western mining songs from California and Nevada during the 1850’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Hear songs that were played in Virginia City during the 1860’s. Learn about the mining culture and lore of the early far-West. Informative and entertaining, The Gold Rush Banjo is about music and much more.
The event is free to the public. The event is made possible by Chris Bayer and the City of Carson City. The Carson City Community Center is located 851 East William St. Carson City NV 89701. The Sierra room is located the Northwest end of the Carson City Community Center facility.
