Carson City arrests: Man jailed on suspicion of meth trafficking and possession

A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday on suspicion of felony drug trafficking and possession after he had left behind a backpack at a casino that contained just under 10 grams of methamphetamine, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Arrested was Brian Holl. According to the arrest report, the man left behind a backpack that was recovered by casino security, who advised dispatch that while searching the backpack per their protocol to look for identification, they found drugs and paraphernalia.

The man was still at the casino and was asked to go into the security office. He admitted he was missing the backpack and the contents inside including just under 10 grams of methamphetamine, a pipe and straw commonly used for inhaling drugs. The man told the arresting deputy he bought the meth at a Reno hotel after winning a jackpot at a casino there. Bail: $23,637.

In other arrests:
— A 26-year-old Gardnerville woman, Kristin Ashley Sickler, was arrested Monday, 5:14 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 East and Lompa Lane on felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and six misdemeanor charges following a hit and run crash.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area of East Long for a hit and run accident. The victim advised deputies of the suspect vehicle. Officers located it in the area of Highway 50 East near a casino.

The officer made contact with the driver who appeared nervous and told the officer “some lady just hit my car.” The officer asked why she did not stop and call police. The suspect replied “the lady just kept going and I had to go to the title loan place.”

She was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. She replied no and gave officers consent to search. A canine alerted positive on the exterior of the vehicle.

During the search a deputy located a black safe on the front passenger floorboard. The woman voluntarily consented to a search of the safe. Inside was a blue glass pipe, a grinder, a red container containing a “roach” and burnt marijuana and four plastic baggies containing small, traceable amounts of methamphetamine. Bail: $8,967.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man, Robert Brent Key, was arrested Sunday, 7:44 a.m. in the 3400 block of Airport Road on a felony warrant issued out of St. Louis, Missouri, County, and a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant issued out of Carson City. He’s being held without bail awaiting extradition to Missouri.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 5:14 a.m. in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road on suspicion of domestic battery, violation of conditions and violation of a suspended sentence. Officers responded to the location where the father identified his son in a battery. The father had blood on his lip and an abrasion to his arm. Bail: $4,636.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 4:09 a.m. in the 1700 block of Russell Way on misdemeanor suspicion of obstructing an officer. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area for a suspicious person walking around a parking lot looking into cars. The suspect was located, turned and ran away from an officer who asked to speak with him. The officer tackled him to the ground and placed him into custody. Bail: $412.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 11:21 p.m. in the 900 block of North Saliman on suspicion of obstructing and driving without a valid license. Bail: $604.

— A 22-year-old Silver Springs man, Justin Paul Gardner, was arrested Monday, 5:36 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on a felony parole and probation hold and suspicion of petit larceny.

According to the arrest report, loss prevention at Walmart observed the man consume food while walking through the store and concealing the container when he was finished. He also removed a knife sharpener from packaging and concealed it on his person. He passed all points without paying and was stopped. Dispatch advised he was on probation. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing on the felony probation violation. Bail for the theft charge, $262.

Just before noon on Tuesday a crash with injuries was reported on the I-580 on ramp from N. Carson Street.

According to dispatch there are two vehicles involved, one of which was towing a trailer.

Injuries have been reported and the number two lane is blocked.

Traffic cameras show vehicles are moving slowly but are able to get through to Washoe Valley.

Motorists must use caution in the area.
