Carson City sheriff's crime log: Man gives false name, kicks deputy during arrest

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of felony providing false information to avoid prosecution, preventing or dissuading a victim from reporting a crime, and gross misdemeanor battery on an officer, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Jaime Pule was taken into custody at 6:45 p.m. in the 1800 block of East Long Street. He also faces two misdemeanor warrants charges and misdemeanor resisting a police officer.

According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle that did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Humboldt and Highway 50. The deputy attempted to reach the vehicle, a Toyota, and eventually located it in a parking lot in the 1800 block of East Long Street.

Pule gave an identity, which it turned out wasn’t his own. Officers learned the Toyota was registered to the man’s mother. She was advised of the situation and said her son didn’t have permission to be driving the vehicle and she would be responding. When she arrived on scene, she identified Jaime Pule as her son. The suspect stood up and began yelling at his mom and continued to state he was the name that he had given the officer, the arrest report states.

A deputy attempted to detain the man who began to pull away. Another deputy grabbed the man’s right arm and pushed him against the rear of the Toyota. As the officer attempted to place handcuffs on the man, he continued to try and pull away from both deputies. The man then began kicking one of the deputies before the handcuffs were secured. Bail: $19,912.

In other arrests:

Octavio Macias-Garcia was taken into custody in the 2200 block of East William Street at 8:35 p.m.

According to the arrest report, a CCSO Special Enforcement Team deputy observed a 2006 Chrysler sedan traveling eastbound on Long Street. The vehicle did not have a functioning license plate light. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Russell Way and Long Street, the driver did not stop behind the stop line. The deputy stopped the vehicle as it turned into a casino parking lot.

The deputy spoke with Macias-Garcia who was sweating, made poor eye contact and stated he did not have a valid license, registration or insurance for the vehicle. A deputy conducted a records check and learned the man was cited three weeks prior for possession of a methamphetamine pipe. He was asked to exit the vehicle.

A drug detection canine, Ivo, conducted an exterior free air sniff around the vehicle and alerted positive for a drug odor. The vehicle was searched and two pieces of glass from a broken drug pipe were on the floor and there was a white crystalline substance on the surface which tested positive for meth. The man admitted to the possession of the methamphetamine pipe. Bail: $4,461.

— A 35-year-old Carson City man and inmate at Carson City jail was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor damage to jail property, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, the inmate had pushed the cover for the inmate mattress through the slit under the door of his assigned cell. A jail deputy recovered the mattress cover missing the padding and noticed the mattress was no longer usable. The ripped mattress and padding were discarded. Video evidence shows the man pushing the damaged mattress cover under his cell door. Bail: $2,500.

— A 54-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 7:46 p.m. in the 1000 block of Fleetwood Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area for a domestic battery report. The victim stated her boyfriend became upset with her, grabbed and threw her against the house as they were working on the property.

The victim stated she was able to calm the man down and they resumed working on the house. He then called her names and she asked the man to leave. He became angry again and threw her to the floor, according to the arrest report.

A witness stated she saw the couple arguing and saw the man throw the woman against the side of the house. Deputies spoke with the suspect who was grossly intoxicated. He told deputies the woman had run him over with her truck. A deputy asked the man what happened prior to the incident with the truck. The man replied “whatever she said happened, I won’t fight it.” The man had a scrape on his knee and shin. He was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested. Bail: $3,137.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Thursday in the area of Roop and Stewart streets for misdemeanor suspicion of disorderly conduct, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to the area of Lee and Stewart Street for a report of a subject yelling. Upon arrival the deputy and responding deputies had already located the male, however, he fled the deputies on foot.

As the arresting deputy arrived he saw the man standing in the middle of the roadway at Roop and Stewart. He activated his emergency lights and ordered the man to the ground. The man was compliant with instructions and sat down on a curb near the shoulder of the roadway.

The officer checked the man for wants and warrants through Carson City dispatch and he returned with previous field contacts and arrests related to alcohol. He voluntarily and freely submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .167, the arrest report states. At around 1:41 a.m. he was arrested for disorderly conduct. At jail he became both verbally and physically uncooperative and was placed in a padded safety cell. Bail: $242.
