Carson City woman jailed after she allegedly 'fish-hooked' sister, punched family members

A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday night near Tiger Drive for suspicion of battery, resisting arrest and Parole and Probation violation, a sheriff's booking report states.

According to the police report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic battery in progress. Dispatch advised that the woman was actively fighting their father.

When deputies arrived scene they could hear screaming and yelling coming from the residence. Deputies said they could see a “commotion” inside the house through a side window.

Deputies approached the front door and heard someone say to get off of the woman because the cops were here. Deputies witnessed a person holding the woman down on the couch, and as soon as they let go, the woman stood up and began punching. The woman grabbed her sister’s hair and began pulling on it, the arrest report states.

Deputies drew their taser and instructed the woman to stop fighting and get on the ground. One deputy grabbed both of the woman’s arms from behind her and attempted to restrain her.

Deputies told her again to let go of her sister’s hair and get on the ground or they would tase her, and she refused. Deputies placed the taser on the right portion of her stomach and applied a “drive stun” for approximately three seconds. She let go of her sister’s hair but did not get on the ground, due to the fact that she was being restrained by another deputy.

She was placed in wrist restraints and transported away from the scene into a patrol vehicle.

Deputies asked the other people on scene what had happened.

The father stated they were eating dinner inside his home when he received notification that the woman was arguing with another family member outside because she was trying to leave with her daughter while heavily intoxicated.

Family members attempted to get her back inside the house and told her to go to bed and she began fighting. She slapped one family member in the face and pushed others before she was pinned onto the couch until deputies arrived, the report states.

Deputies spoke with the sister who stated she and the woman had been drinking during the day, and the woman began talking about her deceased brother and sister and accused the sister of not caring about them and began yelling at her.

She said the woman then “fish hooked” her right cheek where she had an abscessed tooth, and she pushed her away and called for another family member. The woman then attempted to leave with her daughter. The sister was then slapped twice in the face and family members got the woman inside the house and pinned her to the couch, according to the arrest report.

Deputies spoke with the woman who admitted to pushing her family members because they were “disrespecting her deceased siblings.”

All family members stated they did not want to press charges against the woman. However, because she committed a battery in front of deputies by punching a family member, they placed her under arrest.

Dispatch advised she was also on parole and probation’s supervision and they requested she be placed on hold.

No bail.

— A 58-year-old Carson City man was arrested at a N. Carson Street casino early Monday morning for obstructing an officer.

At approximately 5:55 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the casino on reports of a man talking to himself and screaming inside the casino. Dispatch advised the man was walking around screaming “they have my property and they are refusing to give it to me.”

Upon arrival, deputies met with security who advised the man was by the north doors and gave a description.

Deputies located the man who was pacing by the entrance doors and talking to himself. As soon as the man saw deputies, he stopped pacing and faced them.

Outside, deputies asked the man for identification “approximately ten times” and asked if they could check him for weapons. The man continued to pace back and forth near the casino doors and became verbally aggressive, according to the report.

Deputies told the man if he didn’t identify himself that he could be arrested until they were able to identify him. The man continued to yell and state he needed his shoes and that he was missing his red backpack.

Deputies stated that when they first entered the casino, they had noticed a red backpack by the west doors. They told the man they would go with him to get the backpack because they knew where it was.

When they retrieved the backpack, the man began to open the main pouch and deputies told him not to reach inside the backpack “approximately four times.” They told the man they didn’t know if he had any weapons in the backpack and did not want him to reach into it.

The man continued reaching into the backpack, and deputies grabbed his right arm to gain control. The man began to pull away and resist, and deputies conducted a “leg swipe” and “guided him to the ground.”

The man continued to resist until deputies told him he would be tasered. The man finally complied with commands and deputies placed him in handcuffs.

The man was transported to the Carson City Detention Center and was identified from prior booking photos and charged with obstructing.

Bail: $2,500.

— A 21-year-old transient man was arrested at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office after reportedly urinating on the building.

According to the report, deputies and alternative sentencing officers were attempting to speak with the man who had recently been released from custody. The man refused to speak with anyone.

Jail staff advised that the man had to be physically removed from the jail, and that he was refusing to leave because he had no place to go.

A janitor advised they had witnessed the man urinating through the walk-through gate along the western fence line of the secured parking area. Deputies walked the man back to the jail and booked him for indecent conduct. Bail: $242
