Fight Hunger Show and Shine to benefit Meals on Wheels this weekend at Mills Park
The inaugural Fight Hunger Show and Shine Car Show to benefit Meals on Wheels rolls through Carson City this Labor Day weekend, Saturday and Sunday at Mills Park.
Hosted by the Carson City Senior Center, the event features classic cars, music, raffles, food and trophies. The show runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Mills Park is located at 1111 E. Williams St. (US Hwy 50 E) in Carson City.
Money generated from the car show will help feed Carson City area homebound seniors. The Senior Center has recently experienced a 60 percent growth in homebound nutrition, with Meals on Wheels set to provide more than 76,000 meals this year. Even with the tremendous growth, its goals remain the same: to bring comfort to those in need, and help people to remain independent, and in their homes.
Meals on Wheels not only ensures a hot meal to homebound seniors, but also provides an essential daily welfare check. In many cases, Meals on Wheels drivers may be the only social contact an individual will receive.
Vehicle registration for this two day event is $25 and Vendor Booth spaces are only $50.
This is a family event that is open to all ages. So come for the cars, the music and the food, but more importantly come to support a great cause and help feed the homebound in our community.
