Carson City arrests: Woman accused of beating car passenger, drug offenses
A 38-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, a felony, and misdemeanor domestic battery among other alleged offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Jennifer Ann Alexander was taken into custody at 1:21 p.m. in the area of South Curry and 10th Street. She also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area regarding an altercation inside a Toyota sedan. Officers were advised that a witness reported that it appeared as though a woman was hitting a child while driving.
Deputies located the car and spoke with Alexander and an adult passenger, who was covered in blood.
The passenger said she was bleeding due to a mishap in which she tripped over a 2-by-4 and landed on a shovel when her face hit the ground, the arrest report states.
Deputies asked for Alexander's driver's license and ran it through dispatch, which came back as suspended. There was also a criminal history of drugs. Deputies continued to interview Alexander and asked her to step out of the vehicle. She was upset and refused and then eventually complied, the report states.
A K-9 did an exterior sniff of the vehicle, which alerted positive. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a meth glass pipe, a gray tooter straw, clear baggies and a scale in the center console of the vehicle. The glass pipe had white residue inside the bottom of the bowl, which was burnt, the report states.
The tooter straw (a device commonly used for inhaling narcotics) had burnt residue on both ends. The pipe and the tooter straw were inside a black and white small bag, the report states. The clear baggies were located in a separate small black bag. Deputies conducted tests on the paraphernalia which came back presumptive positive for methamphetamine. Alexander was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.
A deputy spoke with the victim again, and told her that her story wasn't consistent with her injuries. The victim said she was hit in the nose with the back of the hand by the suspect, with a closed fist.
Deputies spoke with the original reporting party, who stated she saw the driver hitting a passenger, initially thought to be a child, multiple times in the face as the vehicle was moving. An additional misdemeanor domestic battery charge was added to Alexander's arrest. Bail: $7,274.
