Minden Ranch Rodeo brings cowboy excitement to NV 150 Fair
The NV 150 Fair at the Fuji Park Fairgrounds is just three weeks away. Those who shop in that area will have noticed that Fuji Park is undergoing quite the change with additional parking, grading, electrical upgrades and more to get ready for Carson City’s first fair.
The NV 150 Fair will be a true old-fashioned agricultural fair with lots of entertainment, a carnival, plenty of food vendors, 4-H kids showing off their animals, contests for the best in several categories including Best Apple Pie, cookie stacking contest, best peanut butter and jelly sandwich and more. Yes, it’s going to be a great fair and admission is free with only two events requiring tickets.
One of the ticketed events is the Minden Ranch Rodeo, an exciting two –day event showcasing the best working cowboys around. If you’ve never been to a Ranch Rodeo, here’s your chance to see cowboys do what they do daily.
A bit of background: Buffalo Bill Cody produced the first ranch rodeo in 1882 to showcase the prowess of ranch hands as they rope cattle, do some mighty fancy trick riding, ride their broncs, race to load horses on trailers, brand cattle, milk wild cows and other stunts to have fun and compete against the ranch hands from neighboring ranches.
The primary difference between a ranch rodeo and a rodeo such as the Reno Rodeo is that the competition is about the ranch team and not the individual. It’s friendly competition and all enjoy being a part of the show.
The NV 150th Ranch Rodeo is brought to you by the Minden Ranch Rodeo that began in 1999 as the dream of several area ranchers and businessmen to showcase the unique lifestyle of Nevada ranch hands.
Minden Ranch Rodeo has grown to be an exciting event raising monies for scholarships and charitable organizations. This year, they are honored to be a part of the NV 150th Fair to showcase the cowboy heritage that defines Nevada today.
Sanctioned by the Western States Ranch Rodeo Association, the best of the best will be appearing at the Fuji Park Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 2 at 5 p.m. and returning on Sunday morning , August 3rd at 9 a.m. The qualifying ranch teams and top 15 individual event winners will compete at the annual WSRRA National Finals Rodeo to be held in Winnemucca this November.
Tickets are $6 for ages 4-12 and $10 for adults. Tickets may be purchased online at www.nv150fair.com.
