The Carson Educational Support Association, which consists of Para Professionals, Secretaries, Clinical Aides, Nurses, Custodians, Skilled Maintenance workers, Bus drivers and Attendants, Nutrition workers, Deaf and hard of hearing interpreters, Library Media technicians, and IT workers, would like to thank the following businesses for for sponsoring and donating to our educational support staff banquet.

Rodeo foundation gives 9-year-old Carson Tahoe patient $11,000 grant at surprise parade

The Reno Rodeo Foundation awarded $30,000 to six families as a part of the organization’s Reno Rodeo Wish program, which supports the foundation’s mission to assist young people in Northern Nevada with extraordinary needs.

Zero Fatalities has expanded its partnership with Lyft by teaming up with local businesses and organizations committed to eliminating impaired driving fatalities in Northern Nevada.

President Trump tweets about Reno, Gardnerville homicides; murder charges forthcoming

A murder investigation involving slayings in Reno and Gardnerville in which a 19-year-old man was arrested Saturday in Carson City in connection to the killings has caught the attention of U.S. President Donald Trump who turned to Twitter on Monday to push for a wall he wants built along the United States and Mexico border.

Sheriffs confident man arrested in Carson City responsible for slayings in Reno, Gardnerville

A man residing in Carson City was arrested in connection with murders in Gardnerville and Washoe County, according to sheriffs from Reno, Douglas County and Carson City.

On Saturday, Jan. 19, Wilbur Ernesti Martinez Guzman, 19, who resides in Carson City, was arrested in connection with the murders in Douglas County and Washoe County.

According to Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, law enforcement agencies are confident there is enough evidence to link Guzman to all four homicides.

South Reno murder victims names released

The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the names of a couple killed in south Reno. 81-year-old Gerald David, a former Reno Rodeo President, and his wife, 80-year-old Sharon David, were found dead in their home January 16, 2019. Both had been shot to death.

Elderly couple dead in double homicide, investigators say similarities to Douglas murders

UPDATE: 1/18/19 at 3:15PM: According to a story in the Reno Gazette Journal today, the elderly couple found dead in their South Reno home Wednesday have been identified by friends as Jerry and Sherri David. Jerry David was a former president of the Reno Rodeo Association.
The identities of the elderly couple still have not been released by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, which is leading the investigation into their deaths that have been ruled homicides.

An elderly man and woman died as a result of homicide at their south Reno residence after their bodies were discovered Wednesday, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office confirmed during a press conference.

1941-2018

Andrew, better known as Andy, was born on his family’s ranch in Yerington, Nevada. He was the fourth of five children of Albert “Burr” and Marion, including Al, Fred, Madeline and Mary Lou.

Andy enjoyed his upbringing in Yerington, making friends, working on ranches, playing football, excelling in scholastics and having more than his share of fun. His accolades from high school included being elected Governor of Boys State and later being inducted into the Yerington High Football Hall of Fame.

Head down to Mills Park for the first of the rat-rods rolling in for this weekend’s Rockabilly Riot and to catch the motorcycle cops running some practice loops around the obstacle course. Seniors can head to the Community Center for vouchers good at the Third and Curry Farmers Market, residency and income restrictions apply. Join Mo’z Motley Blues on the lawn of the Dangberg Home Historic Ranch for a summer twilight concert – bring a chair or blanket, I suggest some bug spray and a picnic, as well.

Snowshoe Thompson comes to life at the Dangberg Home Historic Ranch as Steven Hale performs a Chautauqua tonight. Head over to the Carson Mall for their Home and Garden Show. The Greenhouse Garden Center has set up lovely displays and will help you find just the right thing to make your yard a little slice of heaven. Tonight you can choose a jazz jam, karaoke, or trivia to get you over the mid-week hump.

I love the summer solstice - longest day of sunshine all year. Celebrate the first day of summer with a hike up to our waterfalls; the guided Muscle Powered hike this evening will show you the way. It's a night of 1000 Dad Jokes at the Brewery Arts Center where funny and punny run smack-dab into silly - laughter is the best family activity.
