Every winter, Carson Valley becomes a nesting ground for bald eagles, golden eagles, falcons, hawks, owls and other wildlife as they congregate to the region. Carson Valley’s expansive open space and cattle ranches provide habitat for the wintering birds of prey.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

The Nevada Department of Agriculture has entered into a second non-exclusive cooperative agreement with Wild Horse Connection, a Nevada-based nonprofit, for the management of horses in the Virginia Range, officials announced Tuesday.

Saddle up with a giddy up to the Comstock August 24-25, as the rodeo returns to Virginia City bringing with it a full force of western and cultural heritage beginning with a longhorn cattle drive right down the center of town.
