Carson City arrests: Man jailed for DUI drives along embankment, admits 'having a few drinks'
A 28-year-old San Francisco man was arrested in the area of I-580 and Highway 50 for DUI first, following too close, failure to maintain a lane and failure to obey a traffic control device, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
According to the police report, deputies were on patrol just after 3 a.m. early Saturday morning when they were dispatched to locate an SUV in the area of Highway 50 and I-580.
The reporting party stated the vehicle almost hit her multiple times and ran the red light at I-580 and Highway 50 before continuing east on I-580.
Deputies located the vehicle, which was driving on the embankment left of the fast lane. The vehicle continued driving on the embankment until it approached the median. Then it swerved back into the fast lane and passed the median.
Afterwards, the vehicle was unable to maintain its lane as half of the vehicle was traveling in the embankment.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver. The driver admitted to “having a few drinks” in South Lake Tahoe.
Deputies noted the man had red, watery eyes and a mild odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath as he spoke. He told deputies he was heading to Kings Beach from South Lake Tahoe, and he’d had two mixed drinks at a casino in South Lake.
The man provided a preliminary breath test which resulted in a BAC of .15 percent.
Deputies spoke to the reporting party who stated she was driving east on Highway 50 from South Lake Tahoe when she noticed an SUV following close behind her to the point she was unable to see the headlights of the vehicle. She said she witnessed the vehicle run the light at I-580 and Highway 50 and nearly hit a railing. She filled out a witness statement form.
He was arrested for suspicion of DUI first, following too close, failure to maintain a lane, and running a red light. Bail: $1,483

Deputies were dispatched to the area in reference to a possible domestic battery. According to the report, deputies met with two subjects, the man and the woman, that were observed arguing with each other at a bus stop in the area.
Both parties told deputies the same story: they’d been arguing about doing drugs. The woman wanted to use drugs, and the man yelled at her and told her not to. Both parties denied the dispute ever became physical.
Dispatch advised the woman had a confirmed warrant out of Carson City issued June 25 for contempt of court.
Dispatch also advised that the man was on alternative sentencing for a previous domestic battery by strangulation against the woman, who he was ordered to have no contact with.
