Carson City man arrested after stealing roommate's money to pay him rent, then gambling the money and losing it
A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested for obtaining money under false pretenses after allegedly stealing his roommate's bank card in order to pay him rent, then gambling with the money and losing it.
The man was also arrested and on a Failure to Appear warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court on Jan. 30, 2019.
According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of Little Lane on a petit larceny report.
Deputies were contacted by a man who stated he was missing a bank card from his wallet and he had checked his bank records which revealed an unauthorized purchase of $103.
The man said he suspected his roommate of taking and using his bank card and wanted to press charges.
Deputies located the roommate, identified as the 33-year-old suspect, and took him into custody on the outstanding warrant.
Deputies later questioned him regarding the incident with his roommate’s bank card, and the man admitted to taking his roommate’s bank card from his wallet that morning.
He told deputies he took it with the intention of paying rent money to the roommate’s girlfriend. He said he then gambled $60 of the $100 he removed and lost it.
He said he then disposed of the bank card on a street near East 5th street but didn’t know exactly where.
Deputies took possession of the remaining $40 and he was add-booked for obtaining money under false pretenses.

— A 43-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for violation of pre-trial conditions after allegedly drinking alcohol and passing out near Panda Kitchen.
According to the report, deputies were dispatched for a welfare check off Long Street near Panda Kitchen. The reporting party stating there was a person “laying on the floor.”
Deputies arrived on scene and located the woman sitting on a sidewalk near Panda Kitchen. Dispatch advised the woman had pre-trial conditions of no drinking.
Deputies observed an open container of alcohol near the woman, and the woman agreed to a PBT. She blew a .225 BAC.
She was arrested without incident.

— A Reno man was arrested in the 2000 block of N. Carson Street for DUI first.
According to the report, deputies received a report of an intoxicated man driving a vehicle with no license plates.
Deputies located the vehicle in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant and made contact with the man.
Deputies asked for the man’s identification, and he provided them with a Veterans Affair card. Deputies observed the man had red watery eyes, slurred speech, and an odor of alcohol coming from his person.
The man submitted to a field sobriety test and showed all clues of impairment.
The man was taken into custody and deputies secured a warrant for the man’s blood.

— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested on a warrant for domestic battery first issued out of Carson City Justice Court on April 29, 2020.
