Carson City sheriff’s deputies make arrests for meth, warrants
A passenger inside a vehicle that was stopped early Wednesday for traffic violations was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Henry Joseph Kosky, 24, of Yerington, was taken into custody at 4:58 a.m. in the area of Fairview Drive and California Street following a traffic stop and subsequent search of the vehicle after a K9 alerted positive to a drug scent.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle, which did not have a license plate light, make a right hand turn at Fairview without using a signal.
The officer began to turn his patrol vehicle around and observed the vehicle pull into the parking lot of a closed multi-mart business.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was occupied by four, including Kosky, a passenger. The driver did not have a valid driver’s license, the arrest report states.
The officer noted the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a K9 was called to the scene for an exterior search, the report states. The K9 alerted positive for narcotics.
During a search of the vehicle a deputy located a small rubber container with methamphetamine inside, located on the rear passenger side floorboard where Kosky was sitting, the report states.
The man denied the narcotics belonged to him as did the driver passengers though one of them told a deputy she thought the drugs belonged to Kosky because he had a history with narcotics, the arrest report states. Bail: $2,637.
