Carson City deputies arrest shirtless man for allegedly 'walking around with throwing knives' outside auto parts store

— A 33-year-old transient man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly “walking around with throwing knives” while appearing to be under the influence.

According to the report, Robert John Dunbar was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a report of a shirtless man in the parking lot of a local auto parts store who appeared to be under the influence and was in possession of throwing knives.

When deputies arrived on scene dispatch advised the man had taken off running and deputies on scene attempted to locate him.

After a short time, according to the report, dispatch advised the man was back at the auto parts store’s parking lot next to a vehicle.

According to the report, deputies located the man identified as Dunbar and deputies drew their pistol and ordered Dunbar to show his hands and turn around.

Dunbar complied with the orders and was placed in handcuffs and put in the deputy’s patrol car.

Inside the vehicle deputies located the throwing knives “stuck in the front left driver’s seat.”

Other deputies on scene made contact with the reporting party who said that at no time did the man threaten anyone and no crime had been committed.

However, while deputies were being informed of the situation, the reporting deputy saw a hypodermic needle with a dark substance in the backseat of the vehicle.

A K9 Officer was dispatched to the scene and conducted a free air exterior sniff of the vehicle, and gave a positive alert.

Deputies tested the substance which gave a presumptive positive for methamphetamine.

Dunbar was taken into custody without incident.

Bail: $3,637

— A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1700 block of N. Carson Street for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, a parole and probation hold, and obstructing.

According to the report, Mark Trinidad Cuellar was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies after deputies were sent to a local motel to conduct a search warrant in relation to a stolen property investigation.

According to the report, the room on the warrant is registered to Cuellar, who is on parole with Nevada Parole and Probation and is not to possess drugs or alcohol.

Inside the room deputies located methamphetamine, a methamphetamine pipe, a marijuana pipe, and empty alcohol bottles.

Deputies began to search the area of the motel to locate Cuellar, and according to the report they found a male leaving another room, who they recognized to be Cuellar.

Deputies exited their vehicle and approached Cuellar, and when he saw them he, “dropped items in his hands, turned south, and began running through the motel parking lot,” according to the report.

Deputies announced, “Sheriff’s Office, Mark stop running,” and gave chase. They caught up with him at the rear of the motel, drew their pistol and ordered him to the ground.

Cuellar complied with the instructions and was taken into custody without issue.

No bail.

Taunie Anaisa Stromer was arrested after deputies were dispatched to S. Carson Street on a report of a possible DUI driver.

According to the report, deputies had dealt with Stromer the day prior multiple times at a local motel and were familiar with her and her vehicle.

Deputies located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Stromer, who told deputies she had not been drinking alcohol. Deputies were unable to smell any odor of alcohol on her person at the time.

Deputies asked her to step out of the vehicle, and deputies reported she was calm. When another deputy began to speak to her, however, she began yelling and screaming and became aggressive.

Deputies noted that when she began to yell they were able to smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath, and saw her eyes were red and she was slurring her words.

Deputies also noted she appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Deputies asked if she would participate in the Standard Field Sobriety Test, and she said she wouldn’t and stated “I have alcohol in my system but I’m under the legal limit,” according to the report.

Deputies asked if she would submit to a preliminary breath test (PBT) and she said she would not.

Deputies suspected her to be under the influence of drugs and or alcohol and placed her in handcuffs. She then began to yell and refused to walk to the patrol vehicle.

While searching her person she kicked a deputy and was “assisted into the rear passenger seat” of the patrol vehicle.

The motel requested she be trespassed from the location. Stromer’s vehicle’s passenger side window was also smashed, and it was towed from the scene. An inventory search of the vehicle was conducted and they located a small amount of methamphetamine, two tooter straws, and medication.

She was taken to the jail and released to jail staff.
